Food Made and Sold by Large Publicly Traded Companies is the Enemy
Posted on 08-15-2007 | 18 Comments

"Do not eat food produced by publicly traded corporations. Remember, large publicly traded companies are the enemy. They are producing food that is genetically modified, loaded with chemicals, growth hormones, drugs, trans fats, and other ingredients specifically and purposely created to increase your appetite, get you chemically addicted to the food and make you fat. You cannot trust any of the mass produced food they sell. They are using deceptive advertising techniques in their ads intended...

Fat and Carbohydrates
Posted on 07-25-2007 | 5 Comments

I know certain physical exercises use mostly carbohydrates. So if one takes laxatives and purges his intestines (so there is no energy source left there), goes on a strict fasting, say, for a day or two, and then does a lot of exercises that demand carbohydrates, hence causing a deficiency of carbohydrates in his body, will his body use the stored fat to replenish the carbohydrate stores? Thanks in advance for your answer.

Omega-3 lowered my cholesterol...
Posted on 05-23-2007 | 14 Comments

I had a blood test several years ago and my cholesterol and triglycerides were very high (I think it was in the mid-200s or something). I didn't have enough money to go on statins, then I heard about omega-3 in fish oil and have been taking about 4-5g a day for the last year. I went in for a new test last month and while I had hoped the fish oil had lowered it enough so the doctor wouldn't yell at me, but when I went in for the results he told me my numbers were perfect. Total was 125,...

A Response to Richard Schultz on the Potential for Allergic Response to Various Herbs
Posted on 02-02-2007 | 18 Comments

Alright, here is the promised response to material cited by Richard Schultz, in a thread devoted to the subject of potential allergic response to medicinal herbs. If he wishes to comment on my response without unfairly maligning me or the entirety of nutritional science in the process, I am open to it. Either way, I am hopeful that readers can see the relative benefit in choosing natural medicine over pharmaceutical drugs. Even that is not the primary purpose of my post, however. If you are...

Accutane dosing: space throughout the day?
Posted on 09-05-2006 | 4 Comments

So I am up to 70mg/day of Accutane -- actually, Claravis -- after 3 months on the drug. I am taking one 40mg capsule and one 30mg capsule per day. It's not helping all that much with breakouts, so I want to maximize the effectiveness as much as possible . Is it best to take those two capsules at different times of the day? Should I take both at once? Or does it even matter? Maybe there's no data on this. My derm is stingy on the Accutane dosage (I am a male that weighs 75kg,

Splenda weight gain?
Posted on 06-16-2006 | 1 Comments

Does anyone have information about the possibility that Splenda or Equal may cause weight gain in some people? I have tried EVERYthing to lose weight since I gained about 30 pounds over the last 2 years. I'm 45 and have perfect blood work and blood pressure. Read something online about artificial sweeteners being evil and have stopped using them. Noticed a decrease in my appetite and less bloating in general. Is this coincidence or is there something to this?

Natural cures they don't want you to know about

I'm halfway through reading Trudeau's book and I was just wondering what the general consensus is about it. He makes bold claims. Is it just a bunch of BS? Is some of it true and he just exagerates the rest? Is it all true? (scary if so)
