Thanks Wolfgang. I was aware of the TSBs but apparently the dealer is not capable enough to apply the fix. I will try the fix on the 4Runner site. thanks again, "Wolfgang" <NOwolfXgang_dieterxSPAM@NOXcox.netNOT> wrote in message news:XYfPg.140959$LF4.93434@dukeread05...

Thank all of you who responded. The coil wire 'melted' in the distributor cap. Changed the cap and the coil lead and back to the typical Toyota again.

Hey Doug, I have a 1990 4wd pickup with the 3vze engine, 176,000 miles on truck and about 100,000 on engine. (New timing belt and water pump recently and runs strong). The truck has a Fisher plow package frame welded on it and a fisher plow that has been re-painted which works good, swivels left and right. Due to a fuel leak I found while changing oil today, after "messing" with it I set

crashq wrote: Not likely. A burned valve will not pressurize the cooling system. An easy way to check for a burned valve is the hold your hand tight against a rag on the tailpipe outlet when the engine is idling. It should be constant outflow of exhaust gas. A regular "suckback" would indicate a burned ex. valve. Part of the intake stroke being pulled in through the burned spot in the ex. valve. The overflowing radiator and expansion tank? Head gasket. You're on the right track.
