tacoma questions

The 2.4 only comes in the two wheel drive version. In my opinion both of these engines are underpowered if mated to the automatic in the extended cab. I would go with the 5 speed for better performance. I like the 3.4 liter V6 in my extended cab. Check out the specs here. http://www.toyota.com/html/shop/vehicles/tacoma/specs/tacoma_specs.html <dbtexas@earthlink.net.invalid> wrote in message news:419hhv0c57ua8e6fug8rlas17utn7l3m5s@4ax.com...

speaker suggestion 2003 Tundra

Does anyone have any speaker suggestions for a 2003 tundra? I have heard that the front door speakers to not match to the conventional speaker holes. Is this true?

Toyota Tundra Brakes
Posted on 07-19-2003 | 5 Comments

Is anyone else having trouble with pulsation of tundra brakes. The dealer is giving us a bunch of crap about getting them fixed. I think it is a design flaw. I have read about some other problems from other people, but would like to hear what others have to say.

TUNDRA EXHAUST UPGRADE
Posted on 07-18-2003 | 6 Comments

Does anyone have any recommendations regarding which 2003 Tundra dual exhaust upgrade would provide a nice HP boost, as well as give this truck a mean sound? What are the average prices, and how easy/difficult is it to install? Thanks all!

Where can I get a 22re TPS? Anyone want to sell one?
Posted on 07-18-2003 | 3 Comments

I'm pretty sure the TPS on my 22re is bad. I've tried adjusting it, but one of the circuits that should read ~2.3 ohms is always completely open. I've tried napa, autozone, carquest and kragens, and none stock the TPS. Is the dealership my only option? Does anybody have one they can sell me? I really don't want to go to the dealership, as they charge absolutely outrageous prices for parts. Thanks,

4Runner Oil Filter ?
Posted on 07-18-2003 | 3 Comments

The 90915-20004 filter is also used on several Lexus models and my Tundra 4.7 V8. Check the filter listings for the Tundra. That said, I prefer the quality of the -20004 and buy that for my use. An online or mail order dealer will sell a case of ten for about $6-something each. Ken "Tom Howlin" <tom4416@erols.com> wrote in message

Shocks and mufflers
Posted on 07-18-2003 | 2 Comments

I am looking for a little advice on the above subjects. My '93 Xtra cab has about 131,000 miles and its about time for some new shocks and a new muffler. I would like to know if there is better shocks than mfg's for general all around driving. I live in the country and we have paved and gravel roads. You can't tell the difference sometimes. I don't do off-roading but, am looking for something to give me a comfortable ride without losing good steering response. Also, anyone have any...

Buy now or wait for 04's

John I recently purchased a 2003 Tacoma double cab. The salesperson told me that there wasn't going to be any major changes to the Tacoma in 2004. There was some talk about increasing the vehicle size (similar to the Dodge Dakota and the new GM Colorado) but apparently not so now. I guess most of the changes will be cosmetic in nature. You might find some good deals but I personally found Toyota dealerships (in

2003 Tundra Cargo Shell Topper
Posted on 07-17-2003 | 3 Comments

I asked my dealer about getting one or at least the name of a place that sells them for an '03 Tundra V-6 Access Cab. They said that in order to get one that matches the paint, I needed to have ordered it with the truck. Anyone know if this is true? If so, are there any options to getting one? If not true, does anyone know where I can get one? Perhaps on the Net? -- -Raksashan

Free body parts - 88 Toyota PU

If you're anywhere near South-Eastern Wisconsin and would like a couple very clean doors or good glass including windshield and rear window from an 88 Toyota pickup, they're yours for the taking. The rear window is flawless. The windshield has a scratch on the passenger side (which can be buffed out) and no cracks at all. The driver's door has no interior material, but is complete otherwise and has a small rust spot (surface only) on the outside almost in the center of the door. The...

'97 T100 - Questions about available Accessories.
Posted on 07-16-2003 | 2 Comments

I love my '97 T100 SR5 4x4. It's got just about every option except ABS, keyless entry, and a sunroof. Here are my questions: 1) Is it possible to add the factory keyless entry system? 2) Did any T100's have factory sunroof? I've never seen one. If they exist, is the headliner formed differently to accomodate the factory sunroof (like the Tacoma's headliner that is formed to house the sunroof latch/handle)?

2003 Tacoma not starting!
Posted on 07-16-2003 | 3 Comments

Hi all, I am on my last leg her, and about to begin arbitration with Toyota. The problem I have is with a brand new 2003 Tacoma V6, auto 2wd. Here is the description of the problem: 1. I put the key in the ignition 2. I turn the key to start (never touch the gas pedal) 3. The engine turns, and briefly starts 4. Once the engine starts, I let the starter go 5. Engine runs several cycles and dies!

Transmission problem, possible suggestions?

98 Tacoma SR5 4cycl Automatic Extended cab 2wd. 55000 miles. When cold, or when it's not been in use for 3 or more hours, the transmission will not shift properly. To start out you get stuck in 1st, then after ~2 mins, it will reluctantly shift to 2nd. After 10-15 mins it will shift to 3rd, and it takes a long time to get to overdrive. Sometimes you can get it to shift

Tacoma Tranny Question
Posted on 07-15-2003 | 1 Comments

Group, I have a '96 Tacoma X-tra Cab with the 5 spd manual transmission. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact model but it is mated to the smallest 4 cyl. available if that helps. Currently has about 88K miles on it. I bought it at about 50K. Several months after purchasing, I noticed a odd low frequency "squeal" (for lack of a better term) noise while in the "friction zone" at the point when I let out the clutch and the transmission begins to engage. Only notice it when coming out of...

Auto A/C Controller Failing - '99 4Runner
Posted on 07-15-2003 | 5 Comments

Some of the buttons on my automatic A/C controller are not functioning properly. Repeated pressing typically results in activating the switch/button but this is obviously annoying and unreliable. A new controller costs $750 so I am motivated to try and fix this instead of replace it. I took the controller apart but didn't notice anything that might be causing this other than speculating that a cicuit board may be going bad. Anyone have this problem and able to fix it? Any recommendations on...

Tacoma Shocks--what's best?
Posted on 07-14-2003 | 4 Comments

Hi, I have a 2000 Tacoma, extended cab V-6 with the factory off-road package. Just over 100,000 miles. Lately it's been swaying noticeably and drives a little sloppy overall. I'd like to keep it a couple more years. What are the best shocks for me? Anything else I should check on? I guess it's time for new hoses.
