the generic equivalent of goofoff is xylene. works like magic on latex paint especially but be careful where you put it as it will melt some plastics. <max-income@comcast.net> wrote in message news:KV%6d.149967$D%.132125@attbi_s51...

40 amp fusible link popping
Posted on 10-01-2004 | 3 Comments

etc etc Pull the neg wire from the battery, put a test lamp or dmm between the neg terminal and the neg wire end. any voltage readings? does test lamp light....no continue on, turn on key. Got a reading or a light? If so pull fuses till the light gowes out or the reading on dmmm zeros. The light or the reading indicated a short circuit to ground condition, pull fuses should isolat the circuit. Happy hunting. ((I'm being a little facetious there) MLM

yea that's a good point. Why did Toyota just keep on building the same motor, year after year with a known defect, or the very least a real problem. Malcom "grinder" <thomgrs@earthlink.invalid> wrote in message news:nOU6d.13807$gG4.2486@newsread1.news.pas.earthlink.net...

I know it isnt much help, but I would kinda look at the Carb, unsure why you startred having problems in the first place though. Electrical is crazy sometimes. If you get fed up, I have an 83 Toy, I wouldnt mind the extra parts if you wanna sell.

Possible to lower start fast idle speed on 3.4?
Posted on 09-29-2004 | 3 Comments

It seems that it's designed to do that, without reguard to engine life, or fuel consumption. I would like to minimize engine wear, and fuel consumption. I can understand the need for a fast idle speed when the engine is cold, but when it's warmed up, is a waste of engine life and fuel.

hey ive been trying to track my oil leak on my 83 toy. It has an 86 22r and leaks look really similar to yours. The only thing is the top of my tranny is wet with oil. I have new rear and front crandshaft seals, oil pan, valve cover. I believe its leaking out of the head, but not sure, there a back plate on the head that im not sure what its purpose is but it might be that, I go through 3 or 4 quarts in about 200 miles. I can let is sit there and idel all day and it wont leak but it only...

How useful is AWD compared to VSC and ABS?
Posted on 09-26-2004 | 1 Comments

How well do folks in your area get around with their front wheel drive cars?...rear wheel drive cars? Frankly, real winter tires (not so-called All Season tires) combined with the antilock braking system and stability control get me anywhere I need to go until I get high-centered in snow too deep for that vehicle. Deep snow or uphills are where 4wd or AWD pay off. But, will the gas savings on a FWD car make up for the cost of trading away your Highlander? Not likely unless you drive a lot...
