Why does the battery of the 2000 Tundra develop so much corrosion on the
terminals and hold down bracket? What is the best way to control this build
up?

After cleaning terminals, battery top and posts, put a heavy grease on the
seam where the post comes out of the battery top. Doesn't take a lot, just
enough to seal the seam. I usually use wheel bearing grease, others have
mentioned vasoline, chassis lube. This will seal the gasses from coming out
the seam and control corrosive deposits.

Original battery?...It might be time to get a new one. When a
better leaks that bad around the posts, sometimes there is no way to
stop the leakage.

Use those little red and green terminal protectors that you see hanging next
to batteries. They are jus felt with some chemicals in them to prevent
corrosion. Seals the crack in other words. But they won't wash off or go
away. After you put those on use a terminal sealant. No more problems with
the battery.

Wal-Mart anti-corrosion pads under the terminals for just a few dollars.
Works great.
