22RE Head gasket change
Posted by gez1988

I think I need some help. Could somebody give me a step by step help on how
to change a head gasket on a fuel injected 22RE engine. The truck is a
1988. I like to let you know that this is a first time experience for me.
Hopefully I can do it due to I hear it can be expensive at a garage. Also
some pics would be nice too. Thank-you in advance for your help in this
matter. The truck has only 207,000 kms on it

While you have the head off, check the timing chain guides. It may save you
the trouble later on. Here's a link just in case you need to replace the
guides and chain. http://www.yotarepair.com/22R%20timingchain.html

Is there a reason to change the head gasket? If it blew then ya need to
figure out why and check to ensure the head/block are not warped --- and the
head is not corroded thru.
