- Celica Alternator
- Posted by temmuchin09
Let me start this post with the admition that I don't know much about
cars. I am trying to learn, but I am new to any type of car mechanic
work. Ok, now that that's out of the way. I have a 1990 toyota celica
GT the battery charge light came yesterday and I thought, I probably
need a new battery I'll get it after work. Unfortunatly, after work
the car didn't start so I borrowed my sisters car and got a new
battery. I replaced it and it started up but the charge light stayed
on.
I think I may need a new alternator but I'm not sure. The brake light
has been on for some time (about a month or two), but the car has
electrical problems (dash lights fliker in and out when I hit bumps) so
I thought it had something to do with that. Any advice would be
helpful. Thanks.
P.S.
Any ideas on the dash light problem?

You may want to post this in alt.autos.toyota. This is kind of a dead
group.
Yes, you probably need a new alternator. Try to get one from a Junkyard,
maybe even from a newer car. Look at the connectors; there are 3-4 types.
Aftermarket ones are usually junk, depending on the shape of the car, how
many miles, etc and how long you plan to keep it one of these may suit
your needs.
I have one from a '91 truck, it may or may not work for you. Where are you?
