Must smell from a/c vents
Posted on 04-30-2007 | 11 Comments

whenever I start a car most of the power is directed to the starter motor. The lights dim and the radio switches off, the a/c fan blows slower, (on some cars they have gps, cellphone charger, video screen) whenever I start a car. When the engine runs the power is restored instantly, those kind of fluctuation is not so recommended in every electronic devices. Of course I am just being cautious. I just don't want to keep doing that to my devices every day for 10 years. Now I just turn them off...

Hmmm,...normally an engine which has lost its cam-timing, even by a "tooth" in the old days, would not even start, let alone idle,..so I think you are looking at another problem. The symptoms you describe, normally indicate insulation problems in the high-voltage (spark) area of ignition. Measure the spark leads resistance <20k ohms, google this group for ignition coil fault finding.

Yeah you're right. But in discussing cars, news of concern inevitably come into play. I'm sure many Avalons will be great, just all the negative news press on generations of Avalons that's absent say from the GS for instance makes people wonder why. :) On Apr 21, 11:17 am, "Paul G." <northfourn...@yahoo.ca> wrote:

That's where the do-it- yourself route can save you $$$. struts?
Posted on 04-21-2007 | 19 Comments

Definitely get new rubber boots and spring seats. You may want to use new strut bumpers. You may not need new front bearings, bearing plates. This may be a good time to change the problematic front mounts. If you're going for all new parts, the Monroe QuickStrut may be more cost effective at about $230 per corner. And they run specials at times where they'll pay you to take them off (usually $50 a corner labor) if you don't like them. Check monroe.com for details.
