The problem hasn't returned and I've put on a full load, put on dir and hazzard lights, high beam, radio...the works.

The problem with trying to monitor gas mileage on a tank by tank basis is the difficulty in filling the tank exactly the same on each tank fill up. It is very easy to make a 1 or 2 gallon difference. Say on the previous fill up, you were on a slight incline, or the nozzle was less sensitive, or you were no tin a hurry and you teased in a little extra gas - you might have been able to...

Shifting & Wiring Issues

Gekko8 wrote: Sounds like the shift interlock system that prevents shifting out of Park until the brake pedal is pressed. It is sensed electrically, so the brake lights need to come on. Have you checked the wiring harness near the trunk hinge? Often wires break or make intermittent contact due to frequent flexing. If you still need to find more information on the shift interlock system see: http://oregonstate.edu/~tongt/camry/index.html

I've an '89 4 cylinder in far worse shape than as your car and found it to be fantastic. I bought it as a quick solution to a transportation problem and didn't expect to keep it long. However, I've put over 100,000 miles on it in the past 6 years; had the car cruising on the NJ Turnpike daily on a reverse commute; and, don't plan to get rid of it until the body rusts off. Congratulations on your find; if you know of another in similar condition, let me know!! The power button has been...

'98 Camry TDS problem

Don't know type of test AA did - perhaps just measured voltage which isn't same as a load test (in which one or more cells could be low/bad). If its the original 1998 battery - replace it with out messing with the old one. 5 years is about it for a battery - some last longer but not worth the $60 to mess with it going bad when you least want it to. <donna.branch@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1173035153.943392.133030@v33g2000cwv.googlegroups.com...

My local shop found a piece of carbon in the EGR valve. I have also seen others with similar symptoms discover the dealer misdiagnosed the problem. In the end replacing the EGR valve fixed it.

Assume all are like my '95 --- the antenna shaft has a nylon toothed strip (or belt) that is used to make it go up and down. It is either broken or some of the teeth are stripped. A new shaft with the belt attached is `30. If its broken off - you need to remove the motor to get the broken piece out. This can be a lithium button-cell or in some cases a large capacitor. I was going to put a set of 6x9 pioneers. I forget exactly what brand they are though. I also got a pair of kenwoods (6.5 in) for the front doors since the stock ones are garbage. I figure I'll let circuit city or best buy do it though since they cover their work for as long as you own the car. SO im going to get all new speakers put in my car when I take it to them.
