Freon Leak
Posted on 07-11-2003 | 10 Comments

Had freon refilled on my 89 camry at the shop. A/C worked fine for a day. The next day it was back to not working again. Seems like a leak some where in the line. Any hints on locating the leak?

Weak Battery Took Out Starter Relay
Posted on 07-10-2003 | 1 Comments

My wife's 1999 Camry LE V6 died in the parking lot...she drove in just fine but upon returning from the store, the vehicle would not start. Other electrical devices worked OK, but nothing from the starter. The car was towed to the Toyota dealership, where they diagnosed a weak battery and dead starter relay. They claim this in not uncommon... a dying battery will cause the relay to fail. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't understand how this could happen, but this dealership has...

Hello, Couple of weeks ago I bought a 2003 Camry with 2.4 engine. I have always used Fram for my oil filters. Are there any better oil filters than Fram for Toyotas? TIA.

Help with the battle against rust!
Posted on 07-09-2003 | 2 Comments

I'm borrowing my daughters 1990 Corolla sedan while my 97 Camry is in the shop. I want to try and touch up some of the corrosion for her whiloe I have the car. All the usual places, the corners of the doors are the worst. If I open the door I can see the inner and outer sheet metal coming apart. Not totaly loose, still fairly rigid but not for long at the rate its rusting. Also small areas rusting through at the corners of the wheel wells. Car has 130,000 miles and is going strong. If I can at...

Failed Emissions - 1993 Camry V6
Posted on 07-09-2003 | 2 Comments

Hi All, My 1993 V6 Camry SE flunked emissions. It was the HC at idle. The HC at idle has been climbing over the last 3 years, from 54, to 101, to 135 now. That's just 5, over the state limit. The 2500 RPM readings on HC have been climbing over the same period: 13, 18, 25.

95 engine miss @ idle only

I cant figure this one out. Mainly after engine reaches normal opperating temp, you pull up to a stop engine idles briefly then start a hard miss. shift to nutural idle smooths out. Heres a list of what has been done new plugs new wires new cap new rotor timing belt cleaned throddle body

Oil Dipstick won't budge! 98 camry 4cyl w 115k miles.
Posted on 07-09-2003 | 1 Comments

as i found later the oil dipstick plastic top "melted" and stuck to the housing. with much twisting and pulling the damn thing finally came off. the question is now- does the "melted" dipstick still measure oil capacity accurately? i have never experienced this before. does any aftermarket co make a reliable one-i don't feel like getting ripped by toyota. thanks. this was the wrong week to give up smack.

How long can I run AC while idling
Posted on 07-08-2003 | 4 Comments

You probably hear a secondary fan come on. As long as the car isn't overheating it should be ok. Watch the engine temp gauge if the car has one. "vk" <vktechmails@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:c3e7fb04.0307080535.52f7faaa@posting.google.com...

check the yellow pages. there are usually places the sell used ones. the same thing happened to me on my 97 corolla. cost me 10 bucks. be sure and take the car with you. most of the time they will have one.

tire recommendation
Posted on 07-07-2003 | 2 Comments

If your tires wear evenly a 4 wheel alignment doesn't seem neccesary to me. I normally drive about 70,000 km, which is about 44,000 km with the michelins on my '98 4-cyl. I drove 240,000 km (or 150,000 miles) up to now, without any special repair. Just the normal maintenance. Very satisfied with this car. Zwerius Kriegsman Holland

How long do CV joints last in Camrys?
Posted on 07-06-2003 | 9 Comments

Hi all, My Camry is a 97 XLE, with a v6. Almost 100K miles now. You might have read my thread from before: Strange, faint noise in Camry I had the car checked out. One garage and the dealer said it was nothing to worry about. Probably just the tires. Wheel bearings were checked. They were fine.

Timing Belt, also, where to buy spare parts.
Posted on 07-06-2003 | 4 Comments

if you have a CAA or AAA membership than you could just wait till the timing belt busts and have it towed then. that is, if you don't mind being inconvenienced like that. "Eric F" <eric_fi@ pacbell.net> wrote in message news:3YaJa.2317$qX2.1019@newssvr16.news.prodigy.com...

AC Drain pipe
Posted on 07-06-2003 | 3 Comments

Hi I recently had water draining into the driver's side carpets during rains. The dealer diagnosed it as AC Drain pipe clog and charged me about $200 for the work. I have hardly used the AC in the past 6-7 months (winter) and I noticed this problem only when it rained. Does water drain thru the AC Drain pipe even if the AC is not used? How is it related to rains?

90,000 mile service...
Posted on 07-06-2003 | 21 Comments

This is a two part question. I have a '98 Camry quickly coming on 90K. I was just wondering what others have done for their 90K service, and what's recommended? Additionally, what experience have other folks had with their Camry's above 100K? My vehilce seems to run soundly, but there are a number of little things that are bugging me (i.e. cover fell off of driver's side vanity mirror, arm rest came unhinged, right rear shoulder belt is sprung and won't retract). A salesman told me about a...
