Camry Power Steering questions
Posted on 07-26-2003 | 2 Comments

My wife's 93 Camry has a strange PS problem. After sitting in the parking lot all day where she works, she starts to drive toward the exit and the steering wheel won't turn. After she stops and waits for while, it all starts to work again. It doesn't happen often enough to be predictable, so I haven't been able to duplicate it. Sometimes it will work perfectly for weeks, then suddenly it happens again. Hard to tell if it's weather related: sometimes it's wet outside, sometimes in cold weather,...

Just had dealer check tranny, they say no problem???
Posted on 07-25-2003 | 15 Comments

97 Camry XLE 6 cyl. 73,000 miles. I bought it 6 months ago at a used car dealer. The car has a 12 month warranty so I brought it back to have them check the tranny. They say they cant "feel any problem. At lower speeds, especially in traffic, I can feel it grab when I give it slight gas to maintain speed and The same "clunk" when I back off the gas. Feels fine when accelerating through the gear shifts. I only feel it on light application of gas to maintain speed in traffic. They said they...

97 4 Cylinder Camry with DTC P0171
Posted on 07-25-2003 | 12 Comments

Please help. My Check Engine Light has come on and I have determined that it was caused by Diagnostic Trouble Code P0171, System too Lean. There are no other codes and the car behaves normally in every respect. I don't believe I have a vacuum leak as the idle speed is correct. I don't believe the problem is low fuel pressure as the car has normal acceleration and does not bog.

94 camry vibration *fixed*
Posted on 07-24-2003 | 1 Comments

There have been various posts detailing a vibration or wobble on this generation Camry through a particular speed range. In my case it has been between 45-55 MPH when accelerating. Many of us have had the tires changed, balanced, rebalanced, wheels checked for roundness, suspension parts changed, axles replaced, etc. This problem first started for me 3-4 years ago and no mechanic has been able to pinpoint the cause. Finally a stroke of luck has befallen me and I have discovered the problem...

Solara ('01) spark plug changing

Just bought a used one. Just out of curiousity, how the heck do the repair people change the firewall side plugs in this thing? Yep, I know you can go quite a while with them but I can't even *see* them, let alone get a wrench on them. Just wondering..... barry

98 Camry Tran. Hesitating
Posted on 07-24-2003 | 2 Comments

We have a 1998 Camry with 40K miles, automatic transmission. Twice in the last 3 months it has started hesitating at stop lights. When doing this it will not creep forward if you take your foot off of the brake, nor will it "go" until the RPM exceeds 2000. In fact, you can sit there and push the gas pedal enough to increase the RPM from about 750 to 1800 and it won't move; you can do this over and over as if you were revving up a stick with the clutch pushed in. Once you exceed 2000 RPM it...

I know I should ask this before I did it. Anyway, I replaced the tires on my 2000 Camry CE with Michelin X Radial yesterday. 4 at $63 each with $50 mail-in rebate at Sam's Club. Is this a good price? Costco have it at $76, also with $50 rebate. Generally I heard Michelin tires are good. But how about this model? Roughly how many miles can I squeeze out of it? My car had Dunlop tires that was originnaly equipped. I

Check Engine Light and 99 Toyota Camry Technical Service Bulletin EG013-02

I have a 99 Camry and now run into this infamous Check Engine Light problem. A mechanic told me that I needed to replace the Charcoal Canister. I'm considering to do this by myself. I checked http://www.alldata.com/TSB/59/995967A9.html and apparently Toyota has issued a TSB for this issue in JUL 02. The thing is that I'm going to sell this Camry to buy a Sienna very soon and don't want to spend money subscribing to AllData's service for this car. Could anybody please post this TSB if you happen...

Advice needed on buying Sienna
Posted on 07-22-2003 | 5 Comments

Hello all, My friend is considering buying a USED 2003 Sienna LE, with 27000 miles on it. It is originally looks like a Ontario govt. fleet return and it is at a delaer in Detroit. The price quoted is US $18700.00 . How is this deal? I checked the blue book value at Kbb and it is $19200.00 . I am skeptic of buying rental and fleet returns because of improper care. My friend is very much interested since it is some $5000 less than new one's price.
