- '98 Camry V6 issue
- Posted on 08-11-2003 | 2 Comments
I meant to add in my last post, my '98 Camry V6 82kmi seems to eat gas like nothing I've had before. On the highway it's decent, 27-28MPG, but in the city it's in the 16-18 MPG range or worse. I posted previously about "blipping" problems, where at cruise speed (with cruise control on) every now and then there the RPM jumps a bit and you can feel a small stutter. I use 91 octane gas, Chevron. I still have that suttering issue.
- After 60K tune up, my engine misses, doesn't always fire
- Posted on 08-11-2003 | 5 Comments
I had my 60K tuneup and the dealer put in new platinum plugs. Immediately after leaving the service department, I was sitting at a traffic light with my foot on the brake when I felt a slight bump. I noticed that it recurred every 15 to 30 seconds and that the tachometer would take a little dip each time I felt the small movement in the car. At higher speeds I can feel the engine "miss" when I accelerate. I recently pulled a pop-sup for 1000 miles and the situation was awful. The dealer told...
- door locks
- Posted on 08-11-2003 | 1 Comments
L.S. sinds yesterday the central door locking on my 1990 Camry doesn't work well anymore.. To be correct: it's thje unlocking that doesn't work anymore. Central locking is o.k., by key or switch... When un-locking the driver-side door, only that door's lock opens.. When locking that door, all doors lock... Anyboddy got an idea what this might be??
- Help - 91 Camry Trunk Lid Adj
- Posted on 08-11-2003 | 3 Comments
If anyone has advice please on how to adjust/repair the trunk lid hinge on a 91 Camry, I would appreciate the info. The passenger side of the trunk up near the hinge keeps getting higher and higher (farther out of alignment) right where the hinge attaches to the trunk lid. I have seen this problem on many similar cars, so this appears to be a common problem. I can't see that anything is bent and I don't know if there is an adjustment for this. Thanks in advance, Doug

Sorry for the stupid question. I had neither one car before. Can someone tells me whether they are two totally different cars or only different body but sharing the same engine? Which one would you pick for a 2000 es300 compare with a brand new camry V6? Thanks for your comment. Wing

- Camry Accessories

Looking to find some camry accessory dealers that handle stuff like all-weather floor and mud guards but discount the retail price. I had located (but lost the address) one in the Pacific northwest - Roman, Rumanian, or something - I think it was run by a couple of brothers. Anyone have any good companies they deal with, please post a reply. Only OEM accessories!! Thanks

Hi everyone: A couple days ago I sent my car to a Toyota dealer for oil change. I was told some components were wrong and I should replace them. The estimate was $1,300. I told them I had Toyota Extend Care and went ahead do it. When I picked up may car, however, I happened to get a chance to look at the bill. They charged Toyota Extend Care for $600. Is this normal / legal? By $600, I think they still make money. Thanks
- 1992 CAMRY DX RADIATOR FANS---ON ALL THE TIME NORMAL????
- Posted on 08-10-2003 | 1 Comments
OK, here is what happened in the past few days. My 1992 Camry DX was stored for a few years. Starting using it again and for four months it has run fine. This week it overheated. Took it to an independent shop and they said I needed a new radiator since the original had a leak. OK, I beleived them and they replaced it. Seems OK. The mechanic said there was nothing wrong with the fan yet the fan is always on now. Both the AC and radiator fan are on from the time I start the car and when...

- struts - when should I replace them
- Posted on 08-07-2003 | 7 Comments
99 Camry 60000 miles. The dealer told me all my struts were worn out and should be replaced. They said it was not a safety issue and it was up to me to make a decision. Since they did not push me as hard as before when my car had other problems, I assumed it was not a serious problem and denied it. I would rather save the $1200. It turned out, however, that I am a nervous person. Since that day, I started to feel that my car was thumping. It knocked hard when hit a

While I was replacing a CV shaft, I thought why not remove the trans pan and see what's up. I always drop and drain, refill, then drop and drain every 12-15k miles, or once a year. This is the first time I have had the pan off, and I must say I am surprised by how clean everything is. Barely any gray gunk or metal shavings were in the pan, even the magnets and screen were very clean compared to other vehicles I have serviced. I always use Valvoline/NAPA Dexron III ATF.
- air conditioning problem on camry
- Posted on 08-06-2003 | 5 Comments
Hi, My air conditioning on my 1991 Camry doesn't seem to be as efficient as it once was. The compressor still kicks in fine when i push the a/c button, but, right now, the temperature diffence between the fan/vent and the air conditioning selection seems to be about the same. There are no other heating/cooling problems with the car. I've had this car since the year 2000 and never had the AC serviced. Is this a coolant problem possibly? The car has 148,000 miles on it and i only put about...
