Problem with 91 Camry, need help!
Posted on 09-19-2003 | 3 Comments

Hi, there I have a 91 camry stickshift. It drives fine until recently it started being sluggish or stalling at gear 2 or 3. It became worse recently after I started driving in city traffic. I have to step on the gas very hard now at gear 1 in order to get the car started, otherwise the engine will just stop. The engine seems fine when no gear is engaged except that it sounds louder now probably due to worsening muffler. What could be the problem? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

03 Window Glass Streaky
Posted on 09-19-2003 | 4 Comments

I am very fussy about having a perfectly clean windshield. This 03 Camry which I have had since May, has some kind of streaky coating on all the glass. Sort of like getting a spray wax at the car wash. It has never been thru a car wash. It is OK when dry, but in rain it gets streaky and mottled, causing reflections from oncoming lights. I have tried every kind of glass cleaner to no avail, just today InvisibleGlass, purported to be the best. There is absolutely no info in the owner's manual...

Caliper problems on '92 Camry LE
Posted on 09-19-2003 | 1 Comments

I have a 6 cyl '92 Camry LE that I keep having caliper problems with. My mechanic claims it is just a bad design flaw , that the slides are known to stick and they have to free them up a lot. I've got 225,000 on the car and have had all the calipers replaced in the within the last 50,000 miles or so, yet i still have problems with sticking ones. Just had the left rear replaced again, after 20,000 miles. Went through a set of rear pads in about 10,000 miles (right side ones weren't that...

5SFE strength
Posted on 09-19-2003 | 10 Comments

Every time I research about the 5SFE, they are allways avoided for performance mods: turbo or any HP increase. The reason given is the engine is a stroked version of the 2L Camry before it and "has inherent structural weaknesses" as a result. This sounds a bit odd to me. Any one know if this is true? Jason

What do you think about SUMITOMO SRIXON4 tire vs DUNLOP SPA2?
Posted on 09-18-2003 | 2 Comments

Greetings: I am wondering if anyone here mount a Sumitomo SRIXON4 on your Camry LE. If so what do you think of it compare to DUNLOP SPA2. Were they quieter and have better handling in Wet & Dry pavement? Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Solara Wheel Question
Posted on 09-18-2003 | 3 Comments

I'm upgrading the stock 15" steel wheels on my 1999 Solara to the Solara 6 spoke 16" alloys that have the cap with the Toyota logo in the black center. What type/size lug nuts do these wheels need? Thanks, George

My Stalling Camry!!!!
Posted on 09-18-2003 | 7 Comments

It's all fixed, Turns out it was an EGR valve. Almost 600.00 total between the guess parts, and then when real parts it needed when the "dealer" diagnosis it right. This time I'm going to give the dealer the thumbs up. john PS. just want to thank all the people in this group who tried to help.

Sticky gas pedal
Posted on 09-18-2003 | 1 Comments

Once in a while the accelerator pedal in my 99 Camry sticks, or it seems that way. Rarely happens but when it does, it's annoying. It's like I try to accelerate and the car doesn't go anywhere. I have two choices. I either push more on the pedal which results in a car suddenly jumps or squeals the wheels, etc, or I just release the pedal and step on it again. Any way I can fix this?

Overfilling 2002 Camry LE V6 1MZ-FE oil?
Posted on 09-17-2003 | 10 Comments

I took my car for an oil change and they put the entire 5L US jug of Mobil 1 in my 1MZ-FE engine. I looked at the dip stick, and its above the full mark. Should I have them empty some if it or just leave it till the next oil change at 4,000 miles?

1991 Toyota Camry Electrical Questions
Posted on 09-17-2003 | 2 Comments

I recently bought a 91 Camry LE that had a terribly botched aftermarked radio installation. I'm no expert, but I worked out most of the obvious problems and regained the use of my clock (it kept resetting every time I turned the car off) and my radio now holds the memory. Now that my clock is back, I want to make sure that it is normal for it to be on all the time, even when the ignition is off. The only thing that I can't figure out is that my radio is always HOT,

Did the dealer screw up my steering wheel?
Posted on 09-17-2003 | 5 Comments

I had a 90k mile service for my '96 Camry. The service included installation of new rotors & power steering wheel fluid flush. After leaving the dealer, I started to hear creaking noise when turning the steering wheel especially at a low speed. I had never heard that before. So, I called the dealer and they said that (obviously) what they did to my car should not cause such a noise. I thought about going to the dealer again, but I guess that they'll just say the noise is normal or they will not...

What is this air filtration on Camry XLE?
Posted on 09-16-2003 | 7 Comments

Does anybody know what is this air filtration (for internal climate control) on Camry XLE (2003 model)? It is supposed to filter out air contaminants sucked from outside. Is it effective? Are there any filters to be changed periodically, etc?

Rear struts are leaking...
Posted on 09-15-2003 | 2 Comments

I've asked for help here in the past with some nice responses, so here it goes again: I have a 92 Camry, 137K miles. I had some major service done earlier this year, in Feb., at a dealer. There were several things that needed repair so we picked the major things (torn CV boot, axle damage, water pump replacement as a preventative maintenence thing, and a few small things) and left a few other things unrepaired. One of them was: "Rear struts are leaking, recommend replacement" and so far we...
