- FLASHING Brake/Charge lights when WARM
- Posted on 04-11-2006 | 1 Comments
Isn't Autolite the supplier for Ford products? When the charge light comes on, it is indicating that the alternator is not charging the battery, but rather the battery is discharging. For some unexplained reason, frequently the brake light comes on at the same time in many Toyotas, but if you correct the problem with the alternator not charging the battery, both lights will go out. If the light is flashing, sounds like it is charging only intermittently. In my experience it is not uncommon for...

Unlikely the tie rod itself would be loose, -- would be the tie rod end, which is replaceable. Harbor Freight sells a satisfactory tie rod end puller for $6.95. Would seem to me, if one tie rod end is worn, the other would also be worn - since you're always turning both wheels at the same time. This is really a simple item to replace, but I would check to see if the rubber boot holding in the grease is intact and get a second opinon. Unless the car has gotten a lot of abuse driving through...

Torches! Angle grinders! Will anything be left to replace! First make sure the lock bolt and big snap ring on the intermediate bearing housing are removed. The lock bolt has a little plastic plug under it, so don't lose that. The centre bearing stays on the shaft, so you won't be trying to make the shaft come right through it, just the bearing out of its housing, that's all. Spray some penetrant like WD40 into the joint between the bearing outer race and the housing, and leave it to soak a...

I'll correct myself, just went out to the car and took a look at my book. I THOUGHT plugs were due on my Camry at 30K, but apparently not? Maybe I'm mixing it up with my Nissan <SHRUG> Coolant and a few other things are due though. So, RTFM.... LOL

I posted to your other thread regarding this. Please check my detailed answer there....the warranty REQUIRES several thing to actually "be done" at 30K. So rather than listen to us here, please make sure you do it by the book or risk invalidating your warranty.
- how to get the door panel off a 91
- Posted on 04-10-2006 | 1 Comments
You have to pop the panel off after you've removed the screws. Gently pry out the panel, and as you get one corner off, you can tell where the other pop/screws are. "brianp" <howsare@ufl.edu> wrote in message news:1144599305.995837.228910@e56g2000cwe.googlegroups.com...

The Subaru Legacy L wagon is reliable and handles better than the Camry. They are easy to find too, since about 2/3 of the models Subaru sells are wagons. c wrote:

I found this out after replacing the battery twice. The alternator kept testing OK when I went to the parts store until the second battery. After that the car worked fine for nearly 4 months, then the starter became sluggish. It's problems started out with the regular sounds the starter would make but...

Just to let you know - I broke the 205,000 miles barrier in this past March with my '88 Camry. Still runs great, but beginning to notice some blue smoke on start-up.... The body is going to rust away though, so I am beginning to look for another one. Boy I wish I could get another just as good. Wish me luck. The car is under warranty, and Toyota wants to charge you $84 to look at the CHECK ENGINE light? Didn't they used to do this for free too? They've outsourced customer service I bet.
