- Warranty about to expire
- Posted by Corolla@toyota.com
How time flies! The 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty on
my '94 Corolla is due to expire Sept. 1.
Wondering if other '94 owners could suggest what is likely to go next.
Pure speculation, of course, but your input wd be appreciated.
Car gets light city use plus freeway workouts. So. Calif =
no weather = no salt on roads.
For my $1500 warranty premium, I got the following major repairs,
each at $50 deductible:
5/6/03 - Replace valve seals $984.19
1/28/03 - Replace engine mounts - $607.36
2/08/01 - Water pump - $450.04
So I cleared a big $391.59 <g> plus I had peace of mind.
Never mind that I could have had the same work done
at my wonderful nabe shop for maybe half the price! I didn't know.
Naive moi never bought from a dealer before, and didn't realize what
how expensive they were.
So what's next (I hope not!)
TIA

I have about a week to go to dealer and say "fix [problem]". Was
thinking of paying my nabe shop look it over for possible signs of
pending disaster, but OTOH, the dealer made only the specific
recommendations listed in original message. I assume they'd have
have picked up any problems; no skin off their ***; warranty pays.
Maybe this was an unrealistic/vague request; tempest in tea pot
but this group is so savvy, I just wondered if that '94 Corolla had
any innate aging problems. Had 15K when I bought it. Old couple
turned in for new - so said salesman.
Has been a real honey so far!
TIA

You said bumper to bumper warranty, not an extended service plan
hugh difference, hence my question. ;)

Did you forget to calculate in the interest you could have collected on the
1500- (or maybe even the gains you would (not) have made in the stock
market?)
Just thought I'd hassle you a little more.
