Start problem (corolla)
Posted by willowtreebedroom

Lately I find it hard to start my car.
I have got to turn my keys from several times to twenty some times to start
the engine.
However, If the engine is already warmed up, the situation is better.

Tell us more:

1. Does it sound like the battery is up to snuff? If you turn the
headlights on before you start, are they bright or sort of dim? Batteries
usually fail with the first onset of winter if they are at all marginal.

2. Does it sound like the starter is engaging but just not kicking it over
good enough? That is, does the starter sound normal or not quite up to
normal speed? On the AE9x and AE10x Corollas, the starters do occarionally
need service. Can't vouch for some of the other models.

3. When is the last time you changed your oil? Dirty oil is harder to
crank, especially when cold and thick. I usually change mine every 3000
miles.

4. What make and model is it? How many miles/kilometers does she have on
her?
