99' Corolla Warranty?
Posted by Ray

Hi all...

Just curious if anyone here knows if the Manufacturer's warranty on the 99
Corolla is 3 years or 5 years? When I bought the car, I thought the salesman
told me it was 5 years. However, when I recently went to have the motor for
the driver's side power window repaired, I was told it was only a 3 year
warranty.

So...if it's 3 years, can anyone tell me if these prices are out of whack?

Prices in Canadian...

Motor: $397.00
Regulator: $106.60
Labour: $90.00

Is this a hard replacement? I'm a computer tech by trade and figure I may be
able to translate some of those skills to replacing the components myself. I
thought I may be able to get the parts cheap at the wreckers. Is this a good
idea? Thought I'd ask the experts here.

TIA for any advice.

When you push the window button do you hear the motor run?
If so just replace the regulator for like $90 USD. Getting
the door handle off is hardest part. Make sure you use a
panel removing toor or stiff metal puddy knife to pop the
panel clips. A 1-2 hour job if you have never done it.
Consider replacing the front door speakers while at it
(assume they are in door - I did this on older Camry - small
plastic piece broke on the regulator - 50 cnet piece at best
but $90 for combined regulator!)

3 year/36k miles on entire car - 5/60k on the power train in
US.

Wonder if he went to one of those multibrand dealerships that
includes FORD?

I recently got an '97 Corolla SD. No power doors, windows or mirrors. I keep
telling myself that there's less to go wrong. You have just reinforced this
mental trickery.

Good luck on the repair.
