Cucumber fragrances, body lotions
Posted on 09-03-2003 | 4 Comments

I was in Walgreens the other day looking for a cucumber lotion, ointment to put under my eyes. I've had a bad sinus infection and needed something to help with the puffiness. By chance I found a tube of a Walgreen brand lotion for "dry skin" called Aloe & Natural with Cucumber for only $.99. The most amazing thing is it smells just heavenly. I noticed the ingredients and it does have some lavender in it, but it mostly smells like a sweet cucumber. I'm wondering if anyone has found other...

I've bought a small set tweezerman tweezers (the ones that come in a small black pouch) which I hide in my large case. I unzip the lining and stick it there. I have a black microfibre flip top (just like japonesque) with many small plastic bottles, squeeze tubes, and screw jars that i've collected over time and labeled with stick-on letters and sealed with contact. ALL my skin care is there plus shower gloves, shampoos, toothbrush, etc, and it all matches beautifully! All black and white. My...

Aspirin Mask, Tend Skin Alternatives?
Posted on 08-26-2003 | 2 Comments

x-no-archive: yes *Please* spare me the wrist-pain of long, arduous googling... Can someone post the latest and greatest aspirin mask recipe (I'm putting a care package together for my baby girl who's now at college!)? And, can the aspirin mask be used like Tend Skin? Or, does anyone have a recipe for Tend Skin? Or, does anyone have a recommnedation for another OTC anti-shaving-bumps product? TIA! -sk (astounded by how quiet her apartment is now -- might have to buy a rap album to...

things that really work
Posted on 08-26-2003 | 19 Comments

I was just getting lint and cat hair off the pillow shams and also off what JJill hubristically and inaccurately calls The Perfect Black Cardigan and it got me to thinking what things really work for everyone (in an on-topic alt.fashion way). Mine include: those lint removers, which are rolls of tape on a handle the Sonicare Trish brushes

I am beginning to think I am the only person on af who has never bought or sold anything on Ebay. I occasionally look at things, but have never acted. For how many afers has Ebay changed the way you shop? --AJ

Lancome's Absolue also comes in a lotion, cheaper, and wonderful. Light, effective.

After reading a lot of positive reviews (both online and off) about Christian Dior's relatively new Capture R60/80 line, I tried a few samples from Sephora and then decided to buy a few of the products. I've been using the Ultimate Wrinkle Cream (Rich Texture), the serum, and the eye cream for the past few weeks and have been very very happy with results. I've always been a little skeptical of claims to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, but this one definitely does the trick! ...

Re: Impulse buys from the net?
Posted on 08-18-2003 | 2 Comments

I may make some impulse purchases online but I rarely overspend if I do. I'm much more likely to make impulse purchases and/or overspend when I've got all the items in front of me at the store. They may not be there next week! Most things I'm interested in online are either regular stock or, at least, will likely be there tomorrow so I'm less inclined to buy iffy items on impulse. If I'm still thinking about particular items the next day, it's easy to sit down and just order them. I may not...

Is mixing products harmful to facial skin?
Posted on 08-18-2003 | 2 Comments

Hi Ladies; I am in need of your good advice. I recieved my order for Avon Anew Gold Ultimate Skin Transforming Cream (and the matching eye cream) yesterday. I already have Olay Regenerist Serum, Olay Total Effects 7X and Olay Intensive Therapy. So here's my question: I don't like to waste anything I've spent my hard-earned cash to buy, and I know the Olay products are compatible. But is it safe to add a few drops of the Regenerist Serum with the Anew

bonne bell skin musk cologne
Posted on 08-16-2003 | 5 Comments

Do they still make this? What did the bottle look like? I always thought that the Skin Musk I saw at Walmart all the time was by Bonne Bell, but today I read on the box that it's by parfums de coeur--The one in the green box, white bottle, with green writing, because it's also called "Skin Musk." Now it's going to drive me crazy that I never smelled the Bonne Bell one. Does anyone have it? The BB website doesn't. Thanks!

the return of the dressing table
Posted on 08-12-2003 | 22 Comments

I was reading an interior design magazine last week and one of the pieces was called "The Return of the Dressing Table." Included an essay about the romance of dressing tables and several examples of gorgeous ones. I have always wanted one, but don't have the right place for it, so my toilette is divided between the vanity in the bathroom (for makeup) and a silver tray on a chest in the bedroom for scents.

Primetime Thursday on Spas and Skincare

I was just watching this and they commented how you can't absorb things through the skin and of course I was saying to myself, yes, but then I thought what about all the new patches for birth control, things to quit smoking, even Epsom salt baths. I dare them to take an Epsom salt bath and see what happens. What do you guys think?

Any have a simple, inexpensive men's skin care regimen?
Posted on 08-07-2003 | 3 Comments

I'm 22, have mild acne (blackheads, big pores, an occasional breakout) and the scars from severe teenage acne. I'm already developing wrinkling (forehead, under eyes) and my skin is rather uneven and blotchy. It's not too oily anymore, but still enough to shine on the forehead and nose by midafternoon. I'm looking to reduce the appearance of that acne scarring, even out the blotchiness, and *most* importantly protect my skin for the future (my career goals require that I not look old before my...

Re: Neutrogena Healthy Skin SPF 30 Tinted Moisturizer

I use the SPF 30 moisturizers sporadically all year long, going from no tint to light/medium to medium/dark over a faux tan. I also love them , and they don't break me out. Sometimes for a little extra "zing", I add the spf 30 bronzer, really gives a nice golden glow. Stephanie S.

Not sure if this has been covered recently, but any oily-skinned gals wearing cream blushes? I couldn't even imagine putting something creamy on my cheeks; I feel like it would slide right off. If you ARE using one, what brand? TIA, Audra To e-mail, subtract 1!
