Dry Skin? Here's Aomething that Might Help
Posted by joel

If you know me, you know this is way OT for me. But it's not really.

I have been plagued by super dry skin on my legs for years (it's a
circulation thang). The dermatologist describes it as "fish skin"

Yuch.

So he gave me a perscription for some cream. And it works great as long
as I keep using it. Well my perscription ran out. But the pharmacy lady
said that it is now available over the counter.

You guys probably already know about it but...in case you don't. It's

AmLactin 12% Moisturizing Cream. Manufacturer is Upsher-Smith.

I rub it on twice a day and it works. That's the good news. The bad news
is it's $1200 bucks a tube and doesn't even have Marc Jacobs' name on
it. In any case -- if you have a winter skin problem you might want to
give it a shot.

Costco sells this for under $15. I can't get past the smell though.

I used this for awhile but found that it stung a little--maybe the lactic
acid? FWIW, I have terrific luck with Cetaphil Cream, the stuff that comes
in a tub. Also, for less-dry skin, Lubriderm lotion for "Seriously
Sensitive Skin". Both are unscented. I like to mix either of these with a
perfumed lotion or a few drops of perfume.

I had no idea this was available OTC now, joel. Thanks for mentioning this.

Yes it does sting a bit when the skin's real dry. I don't think of it as great
pain -- actually that usually sends me a message that it's doing "something."

Phew! I was really starting to believe it was $1200 because of the Marc
Jacobs comment, lol!

While I didn't belive it was $1200 (I can get free samples of it where I
work), I was seriously worried Joel paid that price because of the MJ
comment!!
