Oily Skin & Foundation Q?
Posted on 10-11-2003 | 15 Comments

Problem: I have extremely oily skin (even though I use a good soap and toner, plus Tazorac on problem areas). My foundation (I've tried many, many) always looks greasy after as little as an hour. I use loose powder over the foundations, which are all of the oil free variety. Q: If I quit wearing foundations and powders, will my skin get better and less greasy? It seems like my face is greasy no matter what but I would like to stop wearing foundation/powder altogther for a more natural...

Serums: The Good, the Bad, and the (in)Effective
Posted on 10-11-2003 | 55 Comments

As some of you may have noticed, my year long moratorium ended with a bang. I've been buying cosmetics, skincare, and bath and body stuff like a maniac for the past few weeks. One thing I've been wondering about is serums. It seems as though every line has one, and the variety is frankly, overwhelming. Here's what I've tried: SkinBio CP Serum

I've never...

Here's a thread we did ages ago--I came across my response and thought I'd update it and add it to it: ....worn brown lipstick ....eaten cauliflower or broccoli ....minded dating short men ....bought anything from J. Crew ....liked anything I've ordered from Land's End (update: since then I've bought

I too have very oily skin. I haven't worn foundation for years and my skin is still oily, so I don't know that stopping would help you any. You mentioned you used a good soap -- from what I've read most soaps (bar soaps, anyway) are too harsh on your face. I think "they" recommend using gel cleansers on oily skin. I currently use Olay's body wash (it's not a gel) on my face & it works fine for me. Most cleansers for oily skin that I've used end up over-drying my face. I've tried various...

How to TRULY refine (like glass) bumpy, porous, uneven textured skin?
Posted on 10-10-2003 | 16 Comments

I looked at myself in super bright daylight the other day, and noticed how unbelievably coarse my skin looked even with primer and foundation on it. Bleah!!! It was hideous and reminded me of an oatmeal cookie--I had to run into shade for cover for fear of being seen. So I want to know, how in the world can I get skin like glass, or as close to something like that as possible? I'm open to any suggestions, but would ideally like something I can use at home as opposed to seeing a derm. I...

Dry Skin? Here's Aomething that Might Help
Posted on 10-09-2003 | 9 Comments

If you know me, you know this is way OT for me. But it's not really. I have been plagued by super dry skin on my legs for years (it's a circulation thang). The dermatologist describes it as "fish skin" Yuch. So he gave me a perscription for some cream. And it works great as long as I keep using it. Well my perscription ran out. But the pharmacy lady said that it is now available over the counter.

Estee Lauder skin care

OK, so I have Idealist and love it. I tried to use the Origins product that was supposed to be similar, but just didn't get as good results and returned to Idealist. Now I'm on my 3rd or 4th bottle. I recently picked up some of the Idealist Micro-D. I really like that too! It heats up on its own and really left my face smooth (as in I kept touching it all day to admire it <G>). Now I'm dying to try the Perfectionist. Has anyone tried that and does it work as well as the other products?

Thank Goodness for AF

I was watching HSN earlier, and the rather scary looking but oddly compelling Adrian Arpel was on, with a *HUGE* set of skin care stuff for $55. I was tempted, but I googled AF comments on her line first, and decided I really could do better. Y'all spared me a needless expense, and now I can go spend that money on something I'll like better. Suggestions? Dana

September Hits & Misses
Posted on 10-04-2003 | 35 Comments

Seems like it's time for this thread again! Hits: *Old Navy. I don't shop there much cause usually their stuff isn't my style, but in the last few weeks found some nice yoga pants, a couple button-up tops that fit great, and a hooded sweater that was insanely cheap, all at ON. I'm especially jazzed about the button-up tops because I have a hard time finding shirts in that style that fit well.

I am SO confused.

Ok, i have very funky skin. i have ezcema and rosasca. I am also oily in places and dry in others. I went to Paula's Choice Skin Care to browse.I went to the section on sunscreen and have found 2 different ones that fit me but aren't to be used together. One says its for rosasca (sp?) but at the same time is not for those with oily or combo skin. Well i have combo skin dont it? i mean I have a oily nose, chin and upper cheek area, but my lower cheeks with the rosasca on it is dry as is my...

How do you store your makeup samples?
Posted on 10-03-2003 | 18 Comments

I have finished the initial stages of my closet cleaning. I have several cosmetics bags filled with samples and I am looking for a good way to organize them so I will have easy access if and when I want to try them or pass them on to someone else. I'll separate fragrance samples from skincare and separate eye balms from other items. How do you organize your samples and how long do you keep them? Audrey

Expression lines
Posted on 10-01-2003 | 24 Comments

Hi, I'm almost 32, and starting to notice expression lines on my forehead and under my eyes. I did some research and it freaked me out a bit how much products there are that claim to lessen expression lines. I wanted to ask you if you have experience with the following products: - Dior R 60/80 (serum) - Dior R-Flash

Hello everyone, I use the Dr. Temt line of skin care products, but am now unable to find them (moved to a small town). I was wondering if anyone out there knew a website which carries this line. It would be a big help, thanks, Ami

1) got two different shipments/items from North Beach Leather before they finally run out of my size .... black leather mini skirt that fits beautifully and looks WAY better than my bcbg max azria one also from the spring ezza catalog.... fawn suede chanel type jacket with sequined trim. It has mandarin collar and hook/eye closures up and down the front.... it's a stiffer suede to be able to hold the shape of this styling. But it's really interesting 2) old navy white jeans (thanks to the 2...

does anything really help wrinkles?
Posted on 09-23-2003 | 17 Comments

My skin is aging and I noticed a crease on my left cheek the other day. What are products that *actually* fluff out your cells and decrease wrinkles? I was just at Whole Foods contemplating the facial moisturiser lines but didn't know what really works and what is hype. some of the things were alpha-hydroxy acid and vitamin c. Lots of green tea was around. I used to use Retinol but they didn't have it at Target anymore and I haven't

Rave!! Face Lift Collagen Skin Care
Posted on 09-23-2003 | 10 Comments

Went to Ulta 3 Saturday to pick up various skin care products for blondie to try out after the great recommendations. Damn, still can't find Rachel Perry anywhere in Dallas...suggestions? In any event, picked up all kinds of stuff but came across this line called Face Lift with Collagen. They had an Intensive Eye Cream, Moisturizer and Lift Product. I decided at 12.99 the Intensive Eye Cream was worth a shot since I am currently out of eye creams. Went home immediately washed face, put on the...
