- Nail Polish Tip - Two Top Coats

Several months ago when having my bi-weekly salon pedicure, I had the
nail tech apply two top coats and have had wonderful results.
My normal pedicure consists of an OPI Base Coat, two coats of OPI
Color, and one coat of OPI Top Coat. After allowing for the polish to
dry, I asked the nail tech to apply one more top coat to my toes. This
additional topcoat keeps the polish on my toenails from chipping and
it also adds a really pretty shine to the red polish. Due to being
extremely busy at work, I was not able to get back to the nail salon
for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, my toes were not chipped and were still
very shiny and since I wear open toe sandals every day, I could still
wear sandals without being self conscious about my nail polish.
The only drawback to wearing two top coats is the amount of time that
is required for the polish to dry and therefore it is important that
you toenails do not touch anything for at least 4 to 5 hours. I
usually get my pedicure at lunch and wear open toe thong sandals. I
can then go back to work wearing the thong sandals so that my polish
will have the time that it needs to thoroughly dry. I only wear red
nail polish on my toes, but I would assume that two top coats would
also keep the fingers from chipping.

IME two coats of Seche Vite dries *almost* as fast as one coat. Or just
use SV as the second coat, over any other topcoat you like!

OPI is the name of a line of nail polish.
I wouldn't say OPI polishes are especially long-lasting. The best in that
category would be Revlon Colorstay polishes; the color selection, however, is
pretty standard.
