Nature's Renaissance Nail Products?
Posted on 10-06-2003 | 3 Comments

I had never heard of this product line before when I was accosted by one of their sales people at a mall kiosk today, although she said "You've probaby seen our products for sale on tv". Does anybody know anything about them? They have a mail care kit which contains a 3-sided smoother/buffer - the results of use are nothing short of amazing. You start with a side which she said was diamond dust, to smooth your nails (both does it), then you go to a side which I have no idea what it is, which...

Nail Polish Tip - Two Top Coats
Posted on 10-03-2003 | 4 Comments

Several months ago when having my bi-weekly salon pedicure, I had the nail tech apply two top coats and have had wonderful results. My normal pedicure consists of an OPI Base Coat, two coats of OPI Color, and one coat of OPI Top Coat. After allowing for the polish to dry, I asked the nail tech to apply one more top coat to my toes. This additional topcoat keeps the polish on my toenails from chipping and it also adds a really pretty shine to the red polish. Due to being extremely busy at work,...

Colorstay Nail Polish rave
Posted on 09-30-2003 | 4 Comments

Just bought this recently, and put it on last Thursday. It's still on, and the *only* place where it shows any wear is where I missed with the "sealer" coat. Remarkable. Not a single chip where I put the sealer on correctly -- just a little peeling where I missed with the sealer along the very base of a couple of nails. Seeing as I generally manage to chip polish, even OPI, in 24 to 48 hours, I'm *seriously* impressed with this stuff. A keeper. -- Dana W. Carpender

Forze nail plastic coating?
Posted on 09-15-2003 | 2 Comments

Has anyone heard of this polycrylic product? It's a plastic-like coating brushed over your natural nails to protec them so they'll grow. You have them filled every two weeks. It doesn't damage the nail. I've had it done at a salon (costs me $40 every other week) but am thinking of purchasing the kit for $97 so I can do it at home. Anyone have experience with this?

What *nail polish* are you wearing?

I can't find the nail thread, so I'm starting it over: Fingers: One coat Nail Envy followed by one coat of Seche Rose, topped with Seche Vite of course. Seche Rose looks a lot like one coat of OPI Bubble Bath, or Essie Sheer Bliss. Quite similar, just a pretty, sheer pale pink. This look is much better for me than an actual French Manicure which just looks funny (not in a good way) on my hands. Toes: Red! Two coats of China Glaze Massai Red, with one coat of China Glaze Ruby Slipper (sheer...

Re: nail polish recommendations for Fall
Posted on 09-07-2003 | 9 Comments

Fall colors tend to be darker, rich reds - burgundy, purple-reds, and the like. Almost all the brands carry these colors at this time of the year. It's more important to choose one that has staying power. I have tried so many brands - from Lancome to Revlon to Chanel - and here are my favorites (they don't chip easily): Chanel Estee Lauder Mac Many people on this newsgroup like Opi but it's difficult to find here in

Sorry was away for alittle while..Thanks to all the helpful people who gave me advice..I really don`t like doing the artificial nail route..Do any of you think what you have suggested would help with the rapid curving of my nails?..Like I said by the time they are even 1/4" they are starting to curve under...I guess from the thinness..Not the thumb and little finger but the middle 3

Miss Jo Anne CD wrote: OPI Nail Envy. They have several formulae and have one specifically for brittle nails. I haven't tried that one (my nails aren't brittle, I've used the Original formula and the Peeling nails one, and both are great). FWIW, I've used Nailtiques in the past (the #2 formula that was rec'd by a nail tech), and I thought it was utter crap. Peeled off my nails within two days, did nothing to strengthen them. as always, YMMV, but

Just read the thread about MSM for nails and hair. How much must one take to see the results. I understand the capsules are 500mg but I read somewhere that you need 5000mg. Is this true? Thanks Mickie

Nails: vertical ridges and ageing
Posted on 07-29-2003 | 10 Comments

I am in my early thirties and have lots of fine vertical ridges in my nails. I certainly didn't have these when I was in my teens (when I first paid attention to my nails, ie), they've been appearing gradually since my twenties, so I am attributing this to ageing. The odd thing is that nobody else in my family has the ridges to the extent that I do. I would feel kind of silly booking a doctor's appointment for this, but maybe I should?
