Leave the house without make-up?
Posted by Valmont32677

I won't leave the house w/o makeup, unless I *absolutely have to*. I always
want to look good, even with a baseball cap and just lipstick. You never know
who you will meet!

Sunglasses are a good habit to get into.
My skin is good, so I never feel funny going without makeup. Although, I
always wear lipstick. I don't do anything exceptional for my skin, but I
keep it clean and do not abuse it.

Do it more and you'll get used to it. Just label it your weekend morning
look.

Same here. I used to always have to look perfect before going out. I found
though, the more I went without foundation, the better my face became to
look.

I know now that this came from years of being told by my father
Wow, that makes me angry at him. I hope you were able to put him in his
place as you got older. You need to address that with him if you can. That
is inexusable for a parent to run down a child. The parents are the ones
who are to help instill self-confidence in a child.

That woman would make anyone not want to wear makeup.

concern
and simply tell them you aren't wearing eye makeup. Some people just don't
have a clue why a person's face looks different.

There's a sentry posted outside my front door to make sure I always have
well-curled and mascara'd lashes before I go out for any reason. When
I want to go makeup-less, I just sneak out the back door, jump in my car
and zoom off ;-)

It's a very rude thing to say in the first place.

I just have my weak, self-conscious moments now and
GOTCHA!
been there, done that!

AGREED!

LOL!
i don't think that is what elisa was referring to!

Posted by rosie read and post

i get asked if "i feel alright?" when i am out without
makeup.........................
IT IS THE HEIGHT OF RUDENESS!

since her first post, elisa has clarified herself.................she
was talking about having "moments"......................

Hey, this is my face! I hope it
I like your attitude - the times I've done it, I'm sure no one even
noticed. Made me wonder why I spend the time primping for the Big
Public Appearance.
I know I've told this tale many times, but the day my cat was dying
and I rushed him out to the vet, I didn't even glance in a mirror to
see how bad I looked. Same thing happened the night a neighbor
pounded on door to announce "bldg on fire."

I'm sure all of you would or will do likewise if faced with similar
circumstances.

I often leave the house without makeup. Sometimes I put
on lipstick, but not always. I'm sure it's easier for people with
naturally dark lashes and brows to get away with this, than
if your lashes and brows are fairer!

The situation I described was a bit different than what you're talking
about. I wouldn't see myself putting on lipstick and eyeliner, in case I
meet a goodlooking fireman ;-)
And if I had to save my cat, I would go out bare naked if necessary! I
really would!!

emergency. Otherwise, if I were just getting the paper, I'd brush on some
blush and mascara and lip gloss. But for everyday? Doing my face is part of
my wake-up routine. My face just feels better if I use my daily facial
products and apply some color. I may putter around the house bare faced
during the weekend, but even then, I just feel blech.
I like make up....no....I love make up. And doing my face is one of the
pleasures of the day I prefer not to miss.

For years I wouldn't go out of the house, except in a dire emergency,
without makeup. I felt very self-conscious if I didn't have on a full
face. It made me feel more confident and better about myself in
general so I don't think it was time or money wasted.

Now though my attitudes have changed and I don't put on makeup unless
I feel the situation merits it! =) If I know I will be going
somewhere "nice" I will put on makeup, but I'm afraid the bag boys at
the grocery store and going to have to put up with my bare nekkid
face!

I would tend to agree. The friend of mine who has mentioned having dealt
with the most "are you feeling OK?" remarks when she's not wearing makeup
is a very fair-skinned natural brunette who has gotten a ton of blonde
highlights. She looks great with her face on, but her complexion and hair
color really don't work together any more without some help.
