94 Accord EXR consumes too much gas

Thanks for the advice, I'll look into the PCV valve problem. As to the air cleaner, is that the same as air filter? I'm assuming it's not. I briefly checked the Honda manual that I have (Haynes I believe, bought from Canadian Tire), and I couldn't find any mentions of either a PCV valve or an air cleaner, but I'll look again today. I have a 92 Accord with the same problem. In researching this problem, I heard the release solenoid on the shift handle will short out and burn up those resistors. See the following link for a horror story on it. As your email implies, we know if you don't fix the original problem, you can keep replacing computers (TCU's) until your pocketbook quits or you give up. http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff49761.htm Good luck! I understand your assertion, JM, but there was one point I failed to make clear in my original post. I did say that my friend appreciated all of the upgrades to the car, and he also knows that this car is an LX model. So, fraud does not apply in this case -- I made it perfectly clear during the sale that this Accord was, in fact, an LX model with EX upgrades. Paul

engine computer on 87 honda accord problems!!!

I had to go to the factory manual and learn about the cars with carbs. I was wrong! The carb cars DO have an Emission Control Unit under the drivers seat. It has 14 input signals from the engine, and controls 12 output functions. The outputs "control emissions and effect smooth engine performance." After re-reading your original post, I think you may be having ignition switch trouble. There are 129 pages of possibilities in the book for the fuel and emissions systems alone. Good Luck! bob

91 Honda Civic Overheating...
Posted on 02-26-2004 | 6 Comments

Try replacing the radiator cap and if you haven't done so already (I replace mine everytime I change coolant. it's cheap a few dollars). Anyway, if you know what you are doing test the temperature sending unit of the cooling system. On mine, it's located on top of the thermostat housing (98 accord). If the car is not overheating but the temp sending unit show it is, it should be fine after it's been replaced. If you can't find the TSU, do some googling and try to find its location. In the...

98 accord O2 sensors
Posted on 02-26-2004 | 1 Comments

I had problems with my O2 sensors on my 98 accord ex as well. Simply cleaning up and retightening the sensor to the specified torque fixed it. Also, I had to reset the ECU in order for the fix to take effect. --Viktor <kissmyCHODE@scotum.net> wrote in message news:Xns949AB9DE1C9E6TONKATITS@216.77.188.18...

Civic Catalytic Converter Question
Posted on 02-25-2004 | 2 Comments

Just remove all that crap and place a straight pipe coming from engine to back of car. That should give you a lil-som-som to play around with. Otherwise, you can swap engine, add turbo or supercharge it, bore the engine so the diamaters increase. You'll need new pistons if you do this since the ones you have now will be smaller in diameter. Add more compression to the engine, use different gas and so on. There are a lot of things you can do to improve the performance of your vehicle but the...

Loose driver's seat...!!!???
Posted on 02-25-2004 | 10 Comments

I had the same problem with a car about 20 years ago. The dealer kept telling me it was normal but I kept bringing it in every 2 weeks to complain about the problem. Finally they agreed to take the seat out and inspect it. They found a broken bolt and replaced it. No more problem!!!! I recently replaced my front mount with a Energy Suspension urethane piece. http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3587 The engine doesn't move much anymore! No more wheel hop, either. There are also DIY's around for filling all the mounts yourself with liquid urethane. "amsjsj" <amsjsj@cox.net> wrote in message news:JRT_b.10436$TT5.6692@lakeread06...

Shifting Difficult on 95 Honda Accord LX Automatic
Posted on 02-25-2004 | 1 Comments

Either try checking to see you have enough tranny fluid, or maybe your shift cable on your transmission is getting old. This was a problem on some of the older accords (89- 93), but its possible the cable is just getting old.... Terry

Clicking noise when turning
Posted on 02-25-2004 | 2 Comments

I had the clicking sound return shortly after replacing the right axel (under $60 at advance lifetime warranty). I looked closly to see what was going on since the boots looked fine and what I found was the motor mounts were broken. The result was the trans and engine was shifting and binding the CV joints when I turned hard while accerating. Just somthing else to look out for. steve
