- Odyssey "idle at speed" problem

I have a 2001 with 26K miles on it. When I am just maintaining speed (at
about 55-65 mph) and not accelerating, I sometimes feel a soft rumble
through the gas pedal. Ocassionally this will be accompanied by a sheer drop
in the tachometer speed (which bounces right back up). My first thought was
that I had gotten a tank of bad gas. I put a bottle of gas treatment in and
filled the tank, but since then the problem has continued, but perhaps it
has become less frequent.
Did I, indeed, get a tank of bad gas? Does it take a while for the effects
to work themselves out of the system?
Or, does this sound like another problem a fellow Odyssey owner has
experienced.

Have the dealer check it out. Also check the Honda extended warranty on
transmissions....

That's the first thing that came to my mind. I've read over again
about the x-mission problems some of the MDX owners were having and
yours accurately describe what they had experienced before it was
taken to the dealer and be determined that it was a bad x-mission.

If it is the transmission (which is still under warranty for quite some
time...) how long can I go with the car in this behavioral condition before
it actually becomes dangerous? Would the transmission possibly just fail?
My reasoning here is that the longer I can wait, the newer the free
replacement will be when the car is more likely to need it (rather than when
the car only has 26K on it).
