How do you reset a Honda air bag module that has had the bags blown?
Posted by SDNomad

I have a 1997 Honda Accord 4dr 4 cylinder. It was in an accident
(before I bought it) and blew the airbags. I replaced the both airbags
and was in the process of locating an airbag srs module for the car,
in order to get the SRS dash light to go out, when it was involved in
another accident. In the second accident it blew the bags again. So I
know the module is still good although the SRS dashlight is on. I read
somewhere that you can reset the module in just two minutes, instead
of replacing it. Does anyone know how this is done?

A service manual from http://www.helminc.com would tell you. In the
service manual for my '94 Civic is a procedure to erase the memory of
the SRS controller. This will clear any trouble codes. If you do this
before installing new air bags I would imagine the trouble code would
come right back.

sometimes they can be reprogrammed, sometimes they need to be replaced

The SRS Main Unit has to be replaced, after a deployment.
