The light that illuminates the clock in our 2000 Accord is out. Is
replacing this light a DIY project?

Definitely. It's very simple. Remove the clock--you'll have to use a
screwdriver to pry right beaneath the clock so it can come out. Once it's
out, unplug the wiring. The bulb is VERY SMALL. Simply turn the knob on the
back and it will come out. The bulb costs about $10 dollars at the
dealership and it's very hard to find elsewhere if even possible. What I did
when mine burnt out was use the hazard switch bulb (they're the same) to
replace the clock one since I don't need the hazard switch light and I
didn't feel like spending $10 on a miniscule piece of glass. I will have to
spend it if this one burns out though. Temporary economy you could say ;)

You might want to use a Popsicle stick or tongue depressor instead of a
screwdriver, to minimize the chances of damaging the clock housing.

I paid $3 for a new bulb for my '00 Accord's clock. $10 is pretty steep.

thermometer, are used in LOTS of foreign cars, even Volvos back 25
years, so they must be available thru third-party suppliers. Honda wants
CDN $10.42 each, last time I asked. If they were available from the
DOLLAR Store, they'd be six per pack for a dollar. I just got a few at
the wrecker while I was looking for other stuff.

Way, dude. A major Honda dealership in metro Atlanta. Of course, they did
print "preferred customer" on my receipt, even though I'd never been in
there before. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that they ignored
me standing at the parts counter for several minutes before getting around
to waiting on me.

I'd call around, if possible. You might not find it for $3 everywhere, but
$10 really does seem excessive. OTOH, it's probably a single-source kind of
item, so they don't have much incentive to keep it reasonable.

Maybe try one of the online Honda parts places?

Clock may be a little difficult to pry out initially as it is a snug fit,
work slowly and carefully. Prying bottom first, then top.

Got mine at Radio Shack. Take the bulb with you so they can identify it, get
the 12 volt version. The leads as purchased are a bit long. Clip them and
retwist around mounting block (tiny plastic piece on back of PC board. They
come 2/pack for just a few bucks.

Hey , I just bought a clock bulb for my 2000 accord last week. I paid $1.85 @
my local honda dealer. Very easy to install.
For $10 they should have included the clock.

Thanks to all who posted a response. Removing the clock from the dashboard
was easy. The replacement bulb cost $2.00 at local Honda dealer. Can only
guess what it would have cost if the dealer had done this work.
