- 88 Civic - pulls to the left
- Posted by dpejoro
Car veers to the left really bad. I checked tire pressure and they are ok.
Steering wheel shakes when I reach 60MPH. What do you think is wrong? How
much do you think this would cost me in repairs? Help!!

You definitely need a wheel alignment and ballancing. Less than US$70
for both.

Propbably a tire going bad, or a bent wheel. bob

An alignment will Probably fix your pulling but the shaking could be a
variety of things.
Start off with an alignment and balance both of your front tires or all 4 if
you desire.
If that doesn't fix the pulling then there is some other mechanical problem.

Do you hear clicking noises when you turn?
Check your front suspension to make sure it'
not damaged : press down on one side and release it, it should stop bouncing
(oscillating) after 1 or 2 bounces.
It could also be your wheel bearings.
I think the best thing you can do, if you're not the do-it-yourself type
when it comes to cars, is to get it checked out at an AAA (or CAA) approved
garage. Be sure to note in advance that everything else works FINE and you
have no intention to do any other repairs/tuneups.
Mention that you'd like them to take a look a the front wheel/hub bearings,
the guy will think you'll know whats going on and you'll have less chances
of being fucked over.
gl with that

Sorry, forgot one more possibility. Altho less likely, but still a
possibility.
When was the last time you checked your front breaks? One of them (that is,
your left one) might be dragging slightly, although you should be noticing
that at lower speeds too.....
