- Some observations on Martin's psychiatric condition.

Martin is generally acknowledged here as suffering from a psychiatric
condition, but the label of "psychotic" that has been applied to him
is not strictly correct. Martin is a classic sociopath, or, in
contemporary clinical parlance, he suffers from "Anti-Social
Personality Disorder". (For a full discussion, see the the latest
edition of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders).
Typical features of the sociopath that are relevant to Martin's case
are:
1 Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeatedly lying to or conning
others for personal profit or pleasure,
2. Reckless disregard for safety of self or others, and
3. Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or
rationalizing having hurt or mistreated another.
Martin's shameless rationaliizaton for his "copious unprotected sex"
with unwitting victims illustrates the above characteristics:

No, of course not.
I called Martin a psychotic, did you miss that?
It's a reference to Jerk's chronically inane comments in this group. When I
kept asking him why he's such a sick fuck that he posts Usenet messages from
his employer's computer with pornographic links, his lame response was
something like "how do you know I'm not lying about everything?"
You need to follow the conversation more closely rather than just posting
"Idiot" once in a while, even when it applies.
