- Relationship of Aids and Small Pox
- Posted by Joe
The other day, I happened to be discussing some "amazing things" with my
brother-in-law and one of the topics he brought up is that he heard that the
Small Pox virus kills the Aids virus!
Could this really be true?
-of course Small Pox is dangerous too, but is it true?
Could Small Pox be altered and rendered safe as a cure or treatment for
Aids?
What do we know about this?
Thanks
Joe

It might find use (or another pox virus like vaccinia) as a vaccine if you
were to engineer the HIV proteins into it, and use it as a carrier.
This, I seem to remember, has been proposed in the past but I don't know
if anyone has taken up the challenge. Your brother-in-law may have heard
of this story and just misunderstood it slightly.

From what I heard, the smallpox vaccine is life threatening to aids
patients.
