"PURDUE POLARIS" SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT
(INCLUDING LIMITED NON-COMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTION RIGHTS)
PURDUE UNIVERSITY
1. Grant of Copyright License. Purdue University (the "Licensor")
hereby grants you (the "Licensee") a royalty-free, non-exclusive,
perpetual, sublicenseable license to do the following:
a) To use, display, install, copy and distribute unlimited
copies of the "Purdue Polaris" Software for its own internal academic
and research purposes;
b) To make derivative works of the "Purdue Polaris" Software.
However, if Licensee distributes any derivative work based on or
derived from the "Purdue Polaris" Software, then Licensee will (1)
notify the Purdue University (c/o Professor, e-mail: eigenman)
regarding its distribution of the derivative work and provide a copy
of the modified "Purdue Polaris" Software to the Purdue University or
the University of Illinois, if requested by the Purdue University or
the University of Illinois, and (2) clearly notify users that such
derivative work is a modified version and not the original "Purdue
Polaris" Software distributed by the Purdue University and the
University of Illinois; and
c) To redistribute (sublicense) the "Purdue Polaris" Software
or derivative works based on the "Purdue Polaris" Software, in whole
or in part, to third parties provided that (1) both the Purdue
University and the University of Illinois's copyright notice and any
accompanying legends or proprietary notices are reproduced on all
copies that include the Purdue University's original code, (2) no
royalty is charged for such copies, and (3) third parties are
restricted to using the "Purdue Polaris" Software for academic and
research purposes only.
2. No license is granted herein that would permit Licensee or its
sublicensees to incorporate the "Purdue Polaris" Software into a
commercial product, or to otherwise commercially exploit the "Purdue
Polaris" Software. Should Licensee or its sublicensees wish to make
commercial use of the "Purdue Polaris" Software, such Licensee or
sublicensee should contact the Purdue University to negotiate an
appropriate license for such commercial use.
3. In all uses of the "Purdue Polaris" Software, where
appropriate, Licensee will credit the origins of the "Purdue Polaris"
Software, or derivative works based thereon, to the creators,
including the Purdue University and the University of Illinois for
their role in the development of the "Purdue Polaris" Software.
4. "Purdue Polaris" Software has been developed in part by the
University of Illinois. Purdue University is bound by a License
Agreement with the University of Illinois. Licensee agrees to abide by
the rules of this license agreement as well.
