- PROSTITUTION IN USA
- Posted by PaulKing
The U.S. Department of Health consistently reports that only 3-5% of the
sexually transmitted disease in this country is related to prostitution.
Prostitution is not just the world’s oldest profession; it’s one of the
largest. The National Task Force on Prostitution suggests that over one
million people in the US have worked as prostitutes, or about 1% of all
American women.

Remove the word "only" and the illusion that there is an argument
here disappears.
No conclusion seems to follow from this.

Just once again we see no real connection between sex and 'AIDS'.
It also shows prostitution and casual sex are really very safe.

Your original article talked about STDs in general, without mentioning
any disease specifically. Any argument starting there and ending
with a conclusion about AIDS can be used to prove the same conclusion
about *any* sexually transmitted disease. If it followed that there
is no connection between sex and AIDS, it would also follow that
there is no connection between sex and syphilis, sex and gonorrhea,
sex and genital herpes, etc.
The claim that "only" 3-5% of sexually transmitted disease in the
US is related to prostitution proves nothing unless you can state
what percentage would be expected, show your calculations, and cite
your sources.
