Are there any ways to keep lipodystrophy at bay, and once the fat
begins to accummulate, to "burn" it off?

Kind regards,

Define "lipodystrophy". Seriously, do it. The word means so many
things to so many people now it's almost meaningless.

He kinda did...here I think he is talking about central adiposity--the
fat accumulation in the belly (and possibly elsewhere).

There may be ways to get the fat to come down. First, diet and
exercise must be addressed. SERIOUSLY! We don't know how much that
will impact it based on studies but it doesn't take a rocket
scientist. If a person is getting "supersized" from eating a lot of
crap fast food type junk, trans fats, processed garbage, etc., that's
gonna make it harder. Which isn't to say the most dedicated "good
eater" isn't going to develop the problem. But address this.

Drug wise, very low dose human growth hormone might help. Of course,
it is obscenely overpriced and the companies lie SO much about data,
it's hard to trust the data. But there are some clinical studies going
on. Lower doses may reduce the side effects that may arise.

Creatine may help (watch kidney function on it).

Providing mitochondrial support I think is key for a LOT of reasons
(e.g., antioxidant therapy using a potent multi and stuff like NAC and
alpha lipoic acid). This probably won't cause fat to go away but may
help to keep it off.

Severe humps may be removed. Severe fat accumulation accompanied by
increrased LDL/triglycerides may lead one to consider shifting to a
different antiviral regimen (e.g., atazanavir instead of a different
protease inhibitor).

Finally, consider also anabolic steroid use along with resistance
exercise. Have your testosterone level checked.

That's a brief review--I hope it helps!

When I diet I do lose inches off my belly but my problem is that my
face starts to get too thin along with that. I go back to eating and
things shift back and my brow creases fill back in and such but I
can't have it both ways.

This is good advice, but it is difficult to avoid eating the wrong
stuff even with nutrional labels. I get very annoyied when I read the
label on a small bottle of juice from a company that is supposed to be
offering a healthy product and see that the nutrional label says
"servings: 1.5". Who is going to drink 3/4 of that bottle and put the
rest away? It's disgusting that companies that are supposed to be
offering healthy juice have to play these games.

Side effects like arthritis. Plus when I tried it my face lost weight
along with my belly. I'd rather be fat with a normal face than look
like a freak with abs to die for.

You forgot carnitine.

Checked? Mine's plaid.

I think that is not uncommon...so I guess the best is the "middle
way"! And I'd err a little on the filled out side/little belly than
the other direction.

I've never seen that but I'm not surprised. Many "health" foods are
simply newly commercialized products from the same old garbage
producing companies on the one hand. And indeed, many supposedly
healthy drinks have lots of high fructose corn syrup (perfectly
natural!) if not outright loaded with other unsavory chemicals. At
LEAST, thank heavens, the label "organic" does mean something, despite
best efforts to water it down.

Yep. I agree!

I'm not sure how well it works to help reduce fat, but yes! (It used
to be sold as a weight loss item--it is not.) Indeed, as I think you
know, if it helps reduce TNF, it might help with lean tissue. And
metabolism in general.

So yes! Thanks for the reminder! (I'm sure I've forgotten a few
things...)

Ah...shouldn't that be "played"??

but, yes, "spot reducing" is a myth of the diet industry.
