Just a few short years ago George Carter was raving against the
World Bank & UNAIDS for doing this or not doing that (Carter
presented himself as if one of the organizing protesters in Seattle
in his ravings published here and elsewhere). One thing was for sure:
George M. Carter didn't even know that Nepal existed - as one might
expect given his educational background equivalent to a high school
GED.
Today George M. Carter, Director of FIAR, claims to be shipping up to
100,000 condoms and lube packets to Kathmandu, Nepal while begging
for money on his Paypal-linked website. Yet Carter REFUSES to
disclose the amounts or sources of donors to his "non-profit"
organization. Where is the money coming from to fund
current pet "Condoms for Kathmandu" collaboration:
The FIAR-Blue Diamond Project?

"FIAR has been working with the Blue Diamond Society of Kathmandu,
Nepal and its director Sunil Babu Pant."
With Carter's dubious claims of NIH and clinical trial collaboration,
and well as his purported collaboration with UNAIDS, perhaps
the good folks at UNAIDS might want to investigate the
possibility of fraud (contact: unaids@unaids.com ):

From a World Bank website:
UNAIDS has a coordinating theme group based in Kathmandu, and
between 1990-99, the UN system supported the national response in
Nepal with approximately US$5 million to build capacity, integrate
HIV/AIDS into reproductive health services, and initiate a
decentralized response. The World Health Organization has provided
funds and technical support. Other donors include the European
Union, Germany, Switzerland, and the United States.
A consortium of multi- and bilateral donors, (UNAIDS, UNDP, USAID,
DFID, Aus Aid) have joined to collaborate with the Government to
address the harm reduction needs of female sex workers, their
clients, and IDUs. FHI is the executing partner of the US$ 2.6
million phased approach. Components of harm/risk reduction include
behavior change communication, social marketing of condoms, harm
reduction equipment, STD treatment, access to clean needles and
syringes, and substitution therapy. Support services such as drug
counseling, HIV care and support, voluntary HIV testing and
counseling will also be established
Will Quackwatch sbinfo@quackwatch.com help educate the UNAIDS
administrators and warn them about George M. Carter" activities,
which included his impersonation of a doctor for his Poz
Magazine column "Dr. Me" as well as his various promotions of
questionable herbs and supplements for AIDS (SPV-30, NAC, etc) that
may have caused great harm to Americans with HIV/AIDS
while provoking investigations by the Food and Drug Administration?
