I did not attend the above Parade, and so I cannot comment on it.
I have seen a few of Sydney's Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parades and found
them fun filled events, heaps of Mums and Dads bring their children along
and enjoy the atmosphere, and the Parade.
Although alcohol is freely available along the route of this carnival
atmosphere, there are no or few arrests, something that is very
praiseworthy, of such a huge gathering of people. Some of the Sydney's Gay
Mardi Gras Parades have had up to 3/4 of a million spectators.
There is no 'barebacking' in the street, it is a fun filled event, and there
is some satire, and political put downs, in the main it is a wonderful
night.
The "Dykes on Bikes" and the "Gay Marching Boys" seem special favourites.
When this Mardi Gras was first shown on TV in Australia, it had the biggest
night viewing of any show.
After the Parade there is a big Gay party, from memory the largest was in
1998 when 27,000 tickets were sold, last year there were only 19,000 tickets
sold, because of the increased cost no doubt.
1998 $70, 2005 $125.

It seems I have a different outlook than you on these events, maybe we look
for different things, maybe you would not like this one eithe, too much
fun........
Interesting....
