- Another HIVer faces jail
- Posted by Martin
Have I mentioned this news article already? I'm getting a feeling of
déjà vu, but I can't find any reference to it in my database; and
there seems to be so many similar cases at the moment.
Anyway, it looks like another HIVer will soon be waking up in prison
for *not* passing on HIV to anyone.

A Halifax man with HIV has been found guilty for not telling his
ex-girlfriend that he had the virus before they had unprotected sex.
Blaine Arthur Holland, 36, was found guilty of aggravated sexual
assault Thursday.
Nova Scotia Supreme Court Justice Arthur Pickup said it was a matter
of who to believe, according to a report in the Chronicle Herald.
Holland claimed he told the woman about his health when they started
dating in 2005. However, the woman said she only found out a year
later.
The woman, who cannot be named because of a publication ban, has
tested negative for HIV, the Herald reported.
Holland is expected back in court in August for sentencing.

Do you really think they are going to keep an AIDS patient in prison for
35 years? If his spit poses a threat to police officers, wouldn't it
also pose a threat to prison guards and inmates? A prison sentence would
remove him from the workforce and his expensive medical condition makes
it difficult to sustain too many HIV-infected prison inmates on a
politically feasible budget. The prison sentence will be reduced to
nothing in exchange for his agreeing to receive outpatient "counseling."
