18 year jail sentence for "spreading HIV"

A man convicted of knowingly spreading the virus that causes AIDS was
sentenced to 18 years in prison.

Carl Leone pleaded guilty to 15 counts last April after failing to
inform his sexual partners of his HIV status. Leone, 32, discovered he
was HIV positive in 1997, seven years before he was arrested on June
6, 2004.

Five of Leone's 15 victims have been infected with HIV.

On Friday, Superior Court Justice Joseph Quinn handed Leone 15
consecutive sentences totaling 49 years — a number Quinn reduced to 18
years to better reflect sentencing guidelines laid out in Canada's
Criminal Code.

Quinn told the court that Leone's age, his lack of a criminal record
and the fact he pleaded guilty to spare his victims the trauma of
testifying were factors in his sentence.

The judge did not declare Leone a dangerous offender, a designation
that would have jailed him indefinitely.

He will be eligible for parole in six years.

His name will be added to Ontario's sex offender registry.

At his hearing in February, Leone expressed remorse and said he hopes
he can be forgiven and one day return to his community.

Defense lawyer Andrew Bradie said Friday that he would not appeal.

Some countries like Italy actually forbid prison sentences for HIV/AIDS
patients, leading to gangs of HIV+ bank robbers who are repeatedly caught
and released to rob more banks. Here in the USA there is no actual
prohibition on incarcerating HIV carriers, but there is a prohibition on
quarantining them within separate prison wards (it violates their civil
rights), so the tendency is towards leniency to keep them out of prison
so they don't infect the other prisoners and cost the state trillions in
medical treatment.

I personally know a transexual crack whore who was caught whoring itself
for crack in Los Angeles, and even though he was a known HIV patient and
thus in violation of the law that prohibits prostitution by HIV-infected
individuals, he was only charged with "loitering" because of the legal
implications of charging him with the imprisonable offense of knowingly
spreading HIV via prostitution.

Apparently so: I mentioned it in a previous article, see

I'd be surprised if that's still the case in Italy, though.

It's about time the US woke up and sniffed some of the coffee aroma.

But why should it? When it comes to HIV everyone is a winner; that's
why the HIV bandwagon is so full, despite the wheels falling off.

HIV makes governments who spend money on funding the infected look
good; it gives all the caring fund raisers a warm, fuzzy, feeling
inside; and it gives millions of people a nice income. I've
previously mentioned that it wouldn't surprise me if HIV hangers-on
don't vastly outnumber those infected with the killer virus.

Even HIV patients who are being poisoned by their caring HIV doctors
are winners in the HIV game because there's lots of money sloshing
around out there to help them with everything they need.

You, and others scared of HIV, should take responsibly for your own
actions. If you believe the HIV lie, and don't want to become
infected, don't do any of the activities associated with its
transmission.

I resent the way you imply I should give punters a run down of my
medical history moments before they hand over cash and butt-fuck me
against a restroom wall.
