Time will tell. But you are not imagining things.
New monitors often give off a noticeable, some say a foul
plastic smell. Often this diminishes with time. I hope this
is the case with yours, because most employers don't want to return
items just because they are making ppl sick. I've heard of ppl
returning monitors for this reason.
Some manufacturers do a burn in process at the factory. For
example: Some will run the monitor for 24 - 72 hours, before
adjustment to make certain they are stable before alinment. Some
manufacturers are more interested in getting volume out the
door.
Monitors in general will emit a slight odor when they are new,
however if they are burned in at the factory most of the odor
will be gone by the time the end user gets it.
Hoping yours "burns" itself out.
