- Fever Or Not?

Why is it that I often feel feverish when I have a bad cold, and my actual
temperature reading is "subnormal" at 96.7?
TIA

Good question. I also run a subnormal temperature with minor illnesses. You
may feel cold due to the fact that the body is fighting back and not
expending energy to heat your body at that time. Or it could be that you
feel cold because you are sitting or lying around more because of feeling
ill. Third possibility could be that the blood is drawing heat from you to
produce the big fighting cells needed to ward off an infection. You can tell
when your body is winning the battle when it heats up and you run a fever
(often accompanied by a headache.)
