Someone I know started losing his hair [age 45] not so odd except he is
losing it on his body too, legs arms etc. he used to be a Meditteranean
type, the GP has prescribed him... wait for it
Anti-Depressants!!!!!
He tried some vitamin pills but nothing seems to be working,
hope someone can help

I knew a girl who (at age 10) lost all her hair due to mental trauma, so the
GP isn't so far afield giving him anti-depressants. Some people lose hair
earlier than the 40's and are totally bald at 30. Before getting too excited
over this one would need to know his family history. Maybe it is a family
trait.
I've done a bit of reading about hair loss, as I was losing mine (in my
60's) and the only thing I came across with any hope was in a book on
Reflexology. It did help.
