I've been off of Accutane for over 2 years and continue to lose hair. I first noticed hair loss about 3 months post Accutane 80mg/day 4 months. I believe my hair was falling out the whole time however since I had so much then I never really noticed. Now I'm noticeably balding at 24 years old. Has anybody else experienced permanent hair loss? Any temporary hair loss?
- Excerpt: Hiding Your Cancer is Unhealthy
- Posted on 06-15-2006 | 1 Comments
I have permission from book publisher Press On Regardless to distribute an excerpt from "Turning Heads," a collection of powerful photographs of beautiful, bald women. They are bald because they have cancer. They are beautiful because they have been buffed by stylists and captured by some of the best photographers in the world -- four Pulitzer Prize winners among them. And they are powerful because they no longer hide their cancer -- or hide behind it. Many women diagnosed with cancer fear...
- How can I safely raise my body fat percentage?
- Posted on 03-26-2006 | 1 Comments
I have a lot to say so I'll try to be as brief as I can. I've had digestion problems since I was about 23. I'm 31 now. First few years weren't too bad. At around 27 things took a turn for the worse. I had stomach pains after every meals. Wasn't sleeping very well etc... Since then things got better probably because I'm eating healthier foods, I'm taking my time to eat slowly and really chew my food, I don't eat before going to bed etc... It was during the time when my digestion was at its...

- Posted on 09-03-2005 | 1 Comments
I thought it was just my health being crap or my diet or something, but I'm fit and my diet is excellent and I seem to have a few of the side effects of roaccutane... Hair loss: this happened almost exactly a month after I stopped taking on my 6 month course (which cured my acne I might add) BUT!! I'm 22 and there is patches of hair missing from my head! I can brush my hand through my hair and at least 10 strands break loose from the root of the hair! Night Vision: This was at its worst...

In the last year I've started to suffer from Hair loss and I've recently started taking a bunch of supplements that are supposed to help slow down or even stop HL. But I don't know, I feel different.

- Stiff joints on 'tane
- Posted on 08-19-2004 | 1 Comments
I notice I haven't heard anyone mention joint stiffness while on 'tane. I had a remarkably bad case of that but I stayed the course because I naturally didn't want the acne to come back. But when I'd get up, or even get out of my car after driving a little while, I'd walk like Fred Sanford (remember that show?) plus the joints would crack loudly all the time, which was quite unnerving. Sounded like athe proverbial smattering of applause, I must say. But my face is as clear as I could've ever...

- Lifelong acne sufferes - listen up!
- Posted on 06-17-2004 | 5 Comments
I am now 70 years of age. I have suffered acne since the age of about 12. Until antibiotics became available for general use there was nothing for us. This was the late 1940s. So we suffered and as a female I did what I could to cover up - hopeless. I had excessively oily skin and very open pores - my skin resembled an orange peel. I became miraculously clear of acne only during my two pregnancies in the early 1960s and then it flared again. I was prescribed The Pill to see what it...
- Natural ways to reduce Testosterone levels?
- Posted on 06-15-2004 | 6 Comments
Hi, I'm male, 31, and have high Testosterone levels. The reference range should 8.4-28.7 nmol/L by I am generally testing around 33.9. I believe this is the cause of symptoms that others my age do not seem to have, such as irritability, very high libido, adult acne and male pattern hair loss. I am currently taking Dutasteride (brand name Avodart) for the hair loss and to avoid the prostate problems my father hand, and it seems to have stopped the hair loss in its tracks (although no reversal...

- Posted on 04-09-2004 | 5 Comments
My skin isn't all that bad. Most of the time I don't even have pimples. However, I do get blochy skin and redness on my face. I know these symtoms sound more like rosacea than acne but the herbs I've been taking and the amount of water I've been ingesting have kept my breakouts to a minimum. However i do get infalmed skin on an everyother day basis. I want to go on accutane to get rid of this nusence for good. I don't want to worry about whether my face is gonna be blochy at any given time. I'm...

Hi, I've been diagnosticated with FMS (Fibromyalgia Syndrome). I'm suspecting that I may also have something else, and therefore I am looking for information about diseases of which symptoms are similar to those of FMS - As this question is commonsense, I am not posting this message to the FMS usenet channel (alt.med.fibromyalgia). These are basically the symptoms: whole body aching, sleep disturbance, chronique extreme fatigue, fibrofog, irritability to noise, light, people, smells,...
- MEDICARE / MEDICAID. What's The Difference?
- Posted on 01-14-2004 | 4 Comments
MEDICARE is a Federal program that was conceived by John F. Kennedy, but put into effect by Lyndon Johnson. It is normally available only to seniors, over the age of 64, it pays for health care but does NOT pay for drugs. MEDICAID, on the other hand, is not necessarily for seniors, it is mainly designed for poor people, the handicapped, women with children, e.t.c. Medicaid is financed by both the State and the Federal government, it pays for health care too, but Medicaid is better...

I am about to go on a 4 month course of roaccutane and I have a few questions about this drug. How serious is the side effect of hair loss? My main concern is whether the hair loss will be permanent? My next concern is the interaction of Roaccutane with other drugs, specifically LSD and marijuana. Are these substances safe to consume whilst taking Roaccutane? Will Roaccutane have any effect on the experience produced by these drugs (ie. will it increase/decrease the effects or change the...
