what did you buy today?

I am officially back on my favorite haunts today...and I must say today was
a banner day.
First, I found a Dior baby saddle bag in light denim. It was wrongly marked
as faux, I noted with glee as I found the serial # and checked the gorgeous
workmanship and stitching. $12!
Then, as I was driving home from the gym I stopped at a church rummage sale.
They were having a silent auction, and one item was a brand new authentic
Lulu Guiness bag. Only one other bid and one other interested party. I bid a
whopping $40, and won. Just picked it up...it is a black straw-like material
with white piping trim, wild flowers embroidered and beaded on the front.
Great for spring and fall. Great addition to the " bag museum." The best
part is money from the auction goes directly to a fund to feed the homeless,
so it's guilt-free.

Quicken 2004.

All fashionistas now say in unison: "Feh! Feh! Who wants a product
that tells how much I overspent at Nordstrom?" <grin/duck>

Yesterday at the Coach store:
I lemminged the denim blue suede drawstring wristlet without intending to.
I entered the store just because I hadn't bothered to check Coach out for
about a year and when I saw the wristlet, which I hadn't been very
interested in just by description, I loved it. I also bought another card
case (blue embossed logo leather with bright green trim) to hold cards
and money because none of my wallets would ever fit in the wristlet. I
carried it today and it was big enough to hold the card case, my cell
phone, a lipstick and my keys (i.e. big enough for its purpose).

Also at the Nordstrom (Galleria) I bought a bunch of clearance linen
items, including a long, oversized, short-sleeved white blouse,
a white linen skirt with small pink flowers and lime green leaves on it,
a pair of charcoal grey wide legs pants and (not on sale) a burgundy
A-line skirt in a soft, brushed tencel. Also bought a pair of pink
and yellow crystal chandelier earrings.

Today I went to a store called "Heart and Sole", which specializes
in Birks, Mephistos, etc. and bought a pair of white Mephisto sandals
because my old white sandals were tired.

During my recent trip to Arizona, I bought some lovely things at White House
Black Market. (whiteandblack.com) I printed a 20% off coupon before leaving
home, so I whittled down the price by quite a bit since I was going hog wild.

black pinstripe pants with interesting detailed waistband

black mini skirt with twin buckle detail (not too mini)

(both items are on the web site)

and the other items aren't online, which is a bummer because they're really,
really wonderful and my descriptions of them are going to be really, really
bad.

a black wide cut v-neck, sleeveless top with a large, stiff white collar that
might be a portrait collar - I'm not sure what it's called - but it frames my
face in the most flattering way, and is very elegant and different. i'm crazy
about this top!

and a black sweater knit halter top that has a tall turtleneck that comes down
to a point at the sternum, where it meets a point at the top of the halter ???
make sense? you've seen this style in evening dresses, i'm sure - it'll be a
fun holiday item.

a huge white pearl necklace that fastens with a wide black satin ribbon, and
it's strung on black heavy string, so it has a great contrast....it's making me
want a little nubby chanel jacket to wear with it!

then i picked up a couple pairs of curtains at z gallerie - and some goodies
for DD's bedroom in the sorority house (this is one of my favorite stores and
Portland still hasn't been put on the list, so I hit it every time I'm in
Denver, Phoenix, etc)

I bought a 2004 calendar with pictures of retro (mainly french) liquor posters

and a wonderful little roller ball massager at B&BW as a treat for DH.

I had a wonderful little 3 night vacation and eased myself into life without my
favorite friend/beautiful daughter for another school year. Let the telephone
calls begin.

Yesterday I met up with a few AFers and had a great time! I mostly just
browsed and helped when the rest of them bought things. However, I did buy
a pair of my favorite Express bow at the bottom capris in black since I
found the last pair (it was my size too) for $19.50. I really am trying not
to buy unnecessary things since I've been shopping way too much lately.
There are fall things I do want, but didn't see them where I went yesterday.

ATM....in case things get iffy tomorrow....We've been having 2 hour rotating
blackouts & no one is supposed to be using a/c unless infirm or elderly.
I'm in the Muskokas....DH went out to get propane - he can make anything on
the barby - coffee, heat up things.....we've been having tons of people
over - I don't remember when I've socialized so much lately....Our
neighbours who usually have to commute to Toronto, haven't been going for a
few days...the kids are sticking close...it's been wonderful, in a
way...It's been like a 3 or 4 day party up here!!!

This is my second black pair, the "color" I wear the most (red, pink and
white are the others). I'll continue to wear them into the fall, especially
since these capris are longer on me since I'm short.

They seriously are the cutest pants ever and you should wear yours more
often, Claire (and anyone else who has a pair and doesn't wear them enough)!

My only problem with these pants is that I find it impossible to spot clean
stains on them without making it much worse. I am messy and also pretty good
at stain removal, so it's something about the texture of the fabric. I
*have* to send them for drying cleaning for even the slightest stain. This
is why I don't wear them more often-- they're at the dry cleaners or else
sitting ready to go there!

been using their coupons to stock up on shoe trees. Every time I went
in, if I didn't see something else I wanted, I'd buy another cedar shoe
tree, so as to pamper my shoes. The last two times I've been in they
didn't have ladies sized ones, neither was there a space in the wall
display for them anymore.

Off eBay, an ivory leather Linda Allard/Ellen Tracy handbag, a change

I left all my hair products at my parents house (doh!) so I had to go out
and replace them.

*Paul Mitchell Lab elastic shaping paste. WAY too hard for my hair, but it
would be great for someone with a pixie cut.
*Abba Molding paste. The consistency of this is much softer and should work
fine.
*Abba volumizing fluid spray
*Revlon thermal round brush
* leopard print nail file
* In Style's The Look

The Abba was 50% off at Albertsons so even if it ends up being crap, at
least it was cheap.

I "won" another Glima tee on eBay. This makes seven. Utter madness! It's
a sickness, I tell you! A cute, fun, comfy, casual, all-cotton sickness.
But I refuse the antidote. Collecting these is too much fun!

This newest one is yoga themed, and the background is all
rosey/reddish/russety tones. Totally different from the other 6 (cough)
that I already own.
