Shower head filter to help highlights
Posted by drew13000@aol.com

Hi all! I have my hair highlighted, and I'm always stressing to the
stylist that the highlights not. So I end up with a medium brown with
lighter brown and blonde highlights, which I love. However, after
about a month, it always ends up with some reddish highlights. Now,
I've noticed in cleaning my shower that there's a pinkish tinge to
some of the bottles, and in the corners, where water can sit, there's
pinkish rings under the bottles. So I'm figuring out that I have some
wacky water. What could be causing this? I've never seen it in any
other apartments that I live in. So I'm pretty sure this is what's
causing the reddish-pink tinge to my hair. I've hear of shower heads
that can filter out deposits, though I've never actually seen one.
Has anyone tried one of these? Do you think they would be effective
in filtering out whatever the pink stuff is? I spend a lot on
highlights, and it's a big concern that my hair keeps going red. I do
have natural red highlights in my hair, so it may be that as the color
fades, my hair just reverts a bit to it's natural shade, but if the
water is leaving pink rings in my shower, I can't help but think my
hair is picking up some of that as well (my hair is dry and porous).

My parents gave me a shower head that comes with a filter you change every six
months. It has made a big difference in how my hair and skin felt. I used it
when I lived in So.Cal where the water was hard.

I moved to the east coast and took the shower head with me. The water does not
seem to be as hard as it was in CA.

I wish I could tell you who makes the darn thing. There is no name on it.
However I am sure you will be able to find one.

Good luck.

you should be able to pick a filter up at a home depot or lowes and just ask
them there about what you want......they can even show you how it is
installed if you need such help.....
if you are still getting some deposits on the hair we make a shampoo for
such things for extremely hard water....it will keep this from happening and
it was designed for daily use on color treated hair fiber........

Sounds like you have hard water. A water softener can fix that.

Look around at other water sources in your house, like the bathroom sink. That
should help you determine whether the problem is with the shower head or with
the water. FWIW, someone once told me that the pink was a variety of mold or
mildew.
