- How to remove hair highlights?
- Posted by Blueberry
I'm just wondering if it is possible to remove highlights from your hair?
May hair is medium blonde and I added light blonde highlights... Not really
happy with them.
Would something like Robert Craig Colorfix work? If anyone could sugges
product that would help I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you everybody! :-)

Question: When did you put the highlights in? Could this be a case of
knee-jerk unease with something you're just not used to yet, or have you had
these highlights long enough to know for sure your want them gone?
Highlights cannot be "removed," so to speak. However, there is something you
can do to return your hair to nearly its previous (but not its natural)
color. Did you bleach the highlights in, or did you use a light shade of
permanent hair color? If you bleached, you'll have to fill and tone them to
nearly your own color, then blend them into the rest of your hair with an
all over color wash using a semipermanent color preparation. If you
highlighted with a simple single process color, you still lifted the natural
color of those areas a few shades and will have to recolor them and blend
them in with the rest of your hair with a permanent color preparation.
Oh what a tangled web we weave... But still, hair color is fun and the boo
boo's are usually not intolerable.

In my NPO (non-professional opinion), of course you can remove
highlights. You simply need to recolor your hair to your natural color.
It's not a matter of actually "removing" the highlights, you are just
redyeing them to match your natural hair color. You may want to consult
a stylist or haircolor info line. I recently tried Clairol's Natural
Instincts and toned down my highlights. Good luck!

Hi,
Judy is correct in that the highlights just need to be colored over.....we
do have a method, depending on what you are doing, described in our 'simple
fixes' article.......check it out in the consumer section of the site and,
as always, we are available to answer questions 24/7
