- 3d hair color?
- Posted by bethG
I just made an appt with a new stylist for tomorrow. When I asked about
pricing for cut/color, she said it depended if I wanted straight color or 3
dimensional color. What exactly is this? She mentioned more than one color
is used but is it an obvious use of multi-colors? Or is it a more subtle
look?
I know much depends on the skill of the stylist/colorist but I'd like to
know in general what's involved and what it looks like.
I don't know which I'm more afraid of: that the new stylist will suck and
I'll have bad hair for a month (still can't be worse than roots!) or that
I'll like the new stylist better than my current one :\

Not that I know anything about this AT ALL, but my guess would be that she's
talking about using a base color plus lowlights and highlights. I would *love*
to have this done if I ever grow enough hair to make it worthwhile, but then I
wouldn't mind if it looked kind of obvious.

there really is no standard in the industry for techniques so this could
mean anything...the best thing to do may be to phone the salon and ask what
is involved with the techniques they mentioned.......for the past ten or
fifteen years some of the top colorists in the country have tried to come up
with standard language so we can communicate among ourselves as well as with
our clients but it isn't a very successful program......it can all be very
confusing
