What I Bought Today
Posted by Grace

In a fit of vacation-itis I perused the mall near where we're staying and
found...a Louis Vuitton boutique. On a whim I went in, and saw a white
Murakami speedy. After being hypnotized by so many beautiful bags, I agreed
to have it held in my name for the rest of the day. When I came back, fully
intending to buy it, another sales team was in place. The very nice guy told
me that honestly the bag would not only be "tired" by next season, but that
the company is going to continue to produce the multicolore, so not only
would it not be a collector's item, but soon everyone would have one.
(He put it in that slightly negative way, but the good news is, if you
really wanted one, they are coming back. He also said the boutiques in
Hawaii tend to be the best stocked and don't sell out as quickly as mainland
ones)
Having planned to drop that much cash and being saved from it, that made all
of the other bags seem like a bargain by comparison. (Do I get Cofarb bucks
for this?)
I ended up with a tangerine orange epi petite noe...a whole lot more than I
am used to spending, but my reward to myself for having survived 2003.
I have been wearing it with glee, as it is v. v. lovely, and by chance I
bought 2 tee shirts that match it exactly. I hope it wears as well when I
get back home.

I got a few nice things (some tangas and a nightgown) at this year's sale,
but I think it was definitely better last winter. I didn't check it out
last June though. I got that same velvety terrycloth robe in light pink
last winter for the same price. Love it!

Today I used a Barnes and Noble's GC and got the Lucky Shopping Manual. I
debated between this and the InStyle book, and since this got better reviews
here on AF and it's more colorful inside, I went for this one.

I also met Stevie and her family for lunch today, and that was fun! They
were driving through my town on their way up to Monterey. I showed them
around my town for a little bit (mainly around the Mission), but I couldn't
show her my favorite boutiques since her SO didn't want to shop. She and
her kid really wanted to shop, but oh well. :P

out your inner spring! And it's not even close to a bandwagon purchase
either.
