Dana,
I have to say that I had this same experience. My highlights *may* have
looked slightly orangey at first but they quickly faded down to a nice, warm
golden red/blondish. And since the base color wasn't way off from my
natural color and my highlights aren't shocking, my hair is growing out
nicely. Yes, you can see the roots if you ogle but they are not immediately
evident.

I really like this stuff too.

I liked it when I did it, but now it has been about 6 weeks and the overall
color and highlights have faded and are looking brassy-- more so then when I
had it done at a salon. I'd say it was good in a pinch, but not a
replacement for my regular salon highlights.

What color did you use? I am not bothered by the brassiness since my
goal is a warm golden brown. I guess I don't really know what
brassiness is. I would never use the more blonde colors but I am
curious about how they work. I really like the highlights. I have
used CE twice each time doing the highlights a little different. I
really enjoy the whole idea behind the product.

I used the darkest shade, Mocha Chip. The base is almost exactly my natural
color, and when I applied the highlights, they were the perfect shade. I
think my stylist usually accounts for some fading, and the the toner she
applies to the highlights is a little dark so by the time it fades a little
it is the perfect color. I guess the "brassy" part I don't like right now
is that the highlighted sections of hair have faded and are now too blonde
and too "dry" looking. There seems to be too much contrast. I noticed that
Revlon and another brand are also coming out with similar kits, so maybe I
will try one of those next.
