L'Oreal version of D-Contraxol spotted...
Posted on 07-13-2003 | 1 Comments

....Thursday at Walgreen's in San Francisco. I wasn't impressed all that much by the D-Contraxol sample I received in the mail, so I don't think I'll be buying this either. The L'Oreal version is called Wrinkle De-Crease. Composition looks similar -- I recall that boswellia serrata extract was one of the "hot" ingredients in D-Contraxol, and it appears here too. IIRC the top ingredients after water were mineral oil, glycerine and

Harvey Nichols makeup expansion
Posted on 07-13-2003 | 1 Comments

I stopped by Harvey Knicks yesterday to see their new makeup area--wow! They've really expanded. They're not as convenient to get to as Selfridges but I think they carry absolutely every line I'm interested in now, as they also have a Space NK and a Pout boutique in-store. And afterwards, there's a juice bar with great combos in the corner! Three lines have been added in a new expanded section of the store: Paul and Joe, RMK and Kevyn Aucoin. RMK is a Japanese line, and Paul and Joe is...

bid increments??
Posted on 07-13-2003 | 1 Comments

Count this as my second lazy question of the day, but eBay's poorly named *Help* feature winds up costing me a pound of flesh and rarely yields anything of value. Today I was surprised to see an item of mine, which started at $5, suddenly slither up to $10.50 after only TWO bids. Isn't that an awfully high jump? Another item, which was at $3.25 or something, merely moved up to $3.50 on the third bid. Was this a mistake? Bid history shows only 2 .... I'm confused.

I don't go to Stein mart much, but when we do, we get some excellent deals. I've seen Coach handbags there, and Joe's gotten some GREAT cashmere v-neck sweaters in wintertime (mostly RL, CK, etc) Lots of brand name stuff at our local ones. Think a cleaner TJX, imho. Pregnancy--let's talk about yours!
Posted on 07-13-2003 | 129 Comments

Hi friends, Why on earth do a lot of women have vivid dreams during pregnancy? You know, ridiculous dreams that defy explanation. When I was pregnant with my first child, I dreamed that I had given birth to her and she was--get this! She was a bar of Ivory Soap. (big LOL!) My sister told me that during her pregnancy, she dreamt that her husband was playing his piano on the wall. She said the piano was ON THE WALL! And oh, the cravings. I didn't have the unusual cravings like sardines

tailoring ?
Posted on 07-13-2003 | 5 Comments

Hi! I had a slew of new and slightly used clothes that I needed to get tailored. Some have sat in my trunk for about 6 months. Some have been in the closet for that long. Some were recommended for tailoring or the Cancer Society thrift store (wave to Dawn on the closet cleanout)... and some were new purchases that had to be tweaked. Finally got them in yesterday to a faboo tailor recommended by FashionDish and it will be worth EVERY penny (and it's not cheap ) but she is tweaking every garment...

I like the MK blonde pencil. IIRC it was an AF rec, and when I was looking for something to order from a MK catalog, I got that. I've repurchased three times since then. Melanie

Shoe Cleaner
Posted on 07-12-2003 | 5 Comments

Are there any opinions on the best shoe cleaner/polish for leather shoes? Also, is there an all-color shoe polish? I just remember my dad having the black kiwi polish, a brush, and a cloth in a plastic bag. I used to love the smell when he was polishing his shoes (which seemed like every day. Lissa

Emjoi Gently Gold
Posted on 07-12-2003 | 4 Comments

Has anyone here that used Gently Gold gotten completely smooth legs. I keep using it every few days or so. I find that my legs look smooth, but I can still feel "fuzz" there and can never seem to get it completely smooth. I have only been using it this summer for a few weeks so far so I guess with time it gets better. I was just wondering how others are making out with this product.

Re: The Sound of Flip-Flops

I like the flip flop sound, but not the loud slap slap echoing down a quiet empty hallway. The loudest noise is with rubber thongs, walking quickly when it's very quiet. The softest little flip flap sound is walking slower and softly in the thick soled ones with rattan soles. I've also noticed that when I'm trying to be quiet, I walk with my toes slightly 'up' and the soles don't...
