I accidentally "found" myself browsing through Nordstrom.com's Beauty
section and I noticed the Lancome Dual Finish now comes in a
fragrance-free version. I tried the regular version out at a Lancome
counter a few years ago, but the scent was a deal-breaker for me. Lured
now by the prospect of a cool new powder foundation with no funky smell,
I immediately jumped on the new version, and ordered it in Porcelain
d'Ivoire.
It arrived today - and thrillingly, it smells like nothing at all (I
like scents, except when I don't - and for most things that are not
perfume, I'd just as soon go with unfragranced to avoid any potential
offensive scents). I tried it on and I think the color is a good match,
though there's hardly any sun today so I'll have to re-evaluate the
shade match in a better light situation. Texture-wise, I like the finish
and the coverage seems good, I think lighter than StudioFix. I applied
the Dual Finish with a dry sponge, over my regular SPF-containing
moisturizer, which is my normal MO for powder foundations.
Will have to give it some time to decide if this is really a keeper or
not, but so far, thumbs up! If you've always liked or wanted to try Dual
Finish but couldn't stand that smell either, the gods have finally
smiled upon you. I might actually use some more Lancome stuff if it
didn't all have that heavy fragrance. Hopefully this is a sign of things
to come and maybe they'll start offering more of their products in
frag.-free versions.
Also, cheers to Nordstrom.com for getting the item to me in only 2 or 3
days! I just placed the order earlier this week and it was in my hands
this morning.
