Has anyone out there created a fashion-specific scrapbook? For years
I have cut inspiring photos and fashion and makeup tips (or just
"iconic" content that really evokes the era) out of magazines and left
them in a pile where once every few months I remember to look at them
again. At the dawn of this new year, I suddenly realized I could get
organized by putting them in a scrapbook.

I've already bought a blank scrapbook and a pair of handy dandy
nonstick scissors, but haven't decided how to proceed. I want to keep
it fairly low-key to save energy for another scrapbook to focus on the
rest of my life (whatever is left of it after getting dressed up,
using makeup, shopping, etc.). What has worked for you?

I do the same thing with clothes:
Clothes I love but won't attempt to re-create on my own but like as
inspiration: placed in, essentially, a scrapbook.
Clothes I love and think/will try to re-create: manilla folder/envelope to
take to the fabric store
Everything else is kept in loose in a pile and ultimately shoved into a box
"to deal with later." I suspect this group will be put into a folder/large
envelope called "Clothes FYI/Inspiration".

Here's a somewhat related question: does anyone re-create *and wear in public,
such at work or running errands* the make-up looks shown in magazines? I've
seen some cool looks but they seem more appropriate for clubbing than work.

What I've done -- and I only keep a jewelry "scrapbook" -- is this:
I keep a loose-leaf 3-ring binder with clear plastic sleeve-pages. I clip
stuff and slip them into the sleeves.

That way, I can get rid of stuff when I decided I don't need it anymore, add
stuff, etc. I can move things around and update easily.

I'm a jewelry designer, and I've found this book to be essential for my
muse-free moments....though I don't copy anyone else's work, it's still good
for inspiration.
